I have Vista/Office 2007 Ultimate/Outlook 2007 installed. I have a paid
hotmail acct. Recently upgraded fm 2003 Outlook to 2007 and now when I
receive emails in Outlook 2007, I get garbled characters like
Chinese/Japanese characters with question marks, etc etc in the text.
Previously I had no such problems. I am not using Hotmail connector now. All
help appreciated. Thanks

You do need the Outlook Connector and should install it, but you should also
check your encoding settings in the garbled emails. Switch to another type of
encoding to see if that works. Paid Hotmail accts are a thing of the past
with Windows Live Hotmail. You ought to contact MSN and see how you can save
that expense.

Once again, Mary, you clearly have no clue.

They are hardly a thing of the past - in fact, they might be more worthwhile
now, thanks to the outlook connector. If you want the live calendar in
outlook, you need a paid acct. If you only use email, then the free one
might meet your needs.

Thank you for your pointers but still cannot solve the garbled text issue
where I get "?" and other unreadable characters in my email messages.
When I logged in to hotmail using IE7, the email is okay - no garbled text
for the emails I rec fm my China contacts.
When I use Outlook 2007 SP1 with the outlook connector, I got garbled texts
again.
Removed outlook connector, set up the paid hotmail acct, email comes in okay
first time, but when I scroll down to other emails and come back to the email
again, it now is garbled. I have added Chinese languages to my editor but no
avail.
Using outlook express in XP, I dont have this problem.
I think I got garbled emails after SP1.
Appreciate all yr help.

I have the exact same problem. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix?
