There isnt a difinative solution as the problem can be caused by a number of
differing things

No because you have told us nothing.
Outlook version? SP number?
OS and version? Fully patched? SP no?
Do you have a PDA or some such device?

Please give as MUCH detail as you can, because we can't see your machine.

Is Outlook completely closed before you shutdown your computer? I've noticed
that Outlook will stay alive for a bit after closing it.
