    - Outlook 07 SP1 hang & data file problems Hi all I am running Outlook 2007 SP1 on Vista Business SP2 and have 2 issues 1. every now & then I get a message on outlook startup telling me a"data file did not close properly..." 2. outlook "hangs" when I attempt to write a new mail or reply These issues happen sporadically and I haven't been able to work out if it's because of something I'm doing (wrong).     - Outlook 2003 Email Wont Send. One of my users is having a rather weird problem with Outlook 2003 SP3 (Using Exchange 2003) everytime she types an email and hits "Send" it sit's in her Outbox until she clicks on another folder, at which point it goes without problem. Everything has been running fine on her machine until yesturday when this problem 1st appears. So far I havn't been able to find the cause of the problem. AutoUpdates are applied through WSUS, but no updates installed within the last two weeks as we are still checking through them. Send/Receive should be automatic as connected no issue with the LAN. Mailbox is only several hundred MB and no where near the server limits. And Outlook is not runnnig in cached mode so no corrupted OST file.     - Color of HTML Signature not showing Hi all, Initially I have met with the foreign character problem in HTML signature. Read http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress&mid=3bfc46ba-1209-4a53-94db-7bf489142281&sloc=en-us and the problem was solved.. by saving the HTML file in ANSI format. However, when the file is in ANSI format, the foreign character does not appear but the font, supposedly red, turned out black. when the file is saved in UTF-8, the color is correct, but with the foreign character appearing.     - Is there a way to make reminders "pop up" like email notices? I'm running Office 2007 Pro on Win XP Pro. When an email arrives, I hear a tone and a little window appears in the lower right-hand corner of the screen showing the name of the sender. It remains visible for a few seconds and then fades away. It does not take over the focus or affect the active task in any way. This is an exscellent implementation. Is there any way to get the task reminders to pop up in the same way?     - Missing files + folders after importing pst file Due to my hard drive crash I had to reinstall Outlook 2007. I had luckily my Outlook.pst file saved on another drive. I tried importing the pst file, but somehow no Inbox emails and subfolders and Sent files were imported. Only a few deleted items files. Calendars, Contacts and Notes imported fine. After that I noticed that the original file date has been changed, but the folder size is still 361 MB. I tried copying and replacing the PST file in my profile but the file looks the same and the same as above are missing. When I check folder size in Outlook it is small. When I run scanpst.exe on my 361 MB file it lists all folders and over 1000 emails which seems to be correct for my original file and says there is no error. I ran Stellar Phoenix PST Repair tool demo scan and it was able to see all emails and folders. But to be able to recover them completely through Stellar Phoenix I would have to pay $129. Is there a way to recover those emails without having to buy this software? Any free tools?     - establishing new 2007 outlook Hi Ih ave outlook express 6 and i am trying to convert to outlook 2007 i set it up and I have a successful attempt only the test message never showed up in the inbox nor have I received any mail.     - archive.PST file shows no data Hi, Outlook 2003 A client changed out here PC. I recovered her .PST files from the old PC. 1 file named: Archive1.PST shows a size of 5.58 MB but when I use Outlook to open it the following folders: Archive, Deleted Items, Sent Items, Search folder appear but I do not see any data in any of the folders.     - Help, my browser has been hijacked! I am running Internet Explorer 7 (7.0.5730.13) under Windows XP Service Pack 3. Recently, when I do a search from Google or Yahoo, I get back the expected listing of hits. For example, I did a search on "Internet Explorer Beta 2". I got a page full of references, one of which was a link to the Windows Internet Explorer 8 Home Page at www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/beta.     - Outlook Junk EMail Filter I'm using Outlook 2007 with Exchange Server 2003 on the back end. Cached mode is enabled. Junk Email filter is set to "Low: Move the most obvious junk e-mail to the Junk E-mail folder". Nothing is listed in the Safe Senders/Recipients list and Blocked Senders list. Outlook seems to think that ALL email NOT coming from Exchange server is junk mail. They all go to Junk folder. I got the same result when using OL2003.     - Odd problem with Outlook resetting the auto send/receive checkbox Hello! I have a user who has XP Pro SP2 with Outlook 2003 and all Microsoft Updates installed, including Office SP3. She has an account with AppRiver for hosted Exchange, and she has a POP account for another domain. Mail is set to deliver to her hosted Exchange mailbox for the Exchange account and the POP account. She called today and said that she was not getting mail on the POP account unless she manually hit Send/Receive. I checked the Send/Receive Groups settings and found that the send/receive settings had been changed from automatic send/receive every three minutes to not having the box checked at all for automatic send/receive, with the minutes set back to the default of five minutes. I re-checked the box and set it to check every four minutes, which should only affect the POP account. Manually hitting Send/Receive frequently seems to cause the Send/Receive Status to hang. I emailed AppRiver about that concern. I closed and re-opened Outlook several times and verified that the hosted Exchange mail was working well. I was just about to get out of her computer and I thought I'd take one last look. Her automatic Send/Receive was unchecked again.     - Configuring OL2003 for Second User of Laptop I have a laptop running Office 2003 on a WIN XP Pro platform. My Office/OL2003 runs fine with my administrator account. I want to lend my laptop to a co-worker so that she can use (primarily) OL. I tried to create a separate user with her own log in, but when she signs in with that log-in, OL indicates that it needs to be re-installed and fails to do so when I insert the first disk of Office 2003 (it asks for some CAB files). So I think I will just let her use my own log-in, so that she does not have to go through the fuss of re-installing Office. What is the best way to create a separate profile, so that her inbox is separate from my inbox / other folders? Any other ideas on how best to accomplish this would be appreciated.     - Still: Outlook won't remember password (tried many known fixes) Have scoured internet with searches of Microsoft.com, Google searches, read 150+ posts here and still no fix. Have client with Outlook 2003 under Windows XP Pro SP2. Outlook will not remember password for email account. Account is a standard POP3 Verizon account. Asks for password, you check the box "Remenber password", gets mail OK, next time box is unchecked and it's asking for password all over again. Client reports having this problem for over a year now. Many "experts" have attempted to fix for them, none have succeeded. I've taken up the challenge. Surely there is a fix out there for this problem! Attempted fixes so far (none have fixed problem): Delete/recreate new email account. Delete/recreate new Email Profile and email account. Delete/recreate new email profile, email account, and outlook.pst file. Delete entire subkey under registry key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider, restart windows Not sure, but I think Norton AntiVirus may be installed, can't remember. What to do if has Norton AV? All suggestions I've read so far involve the above. Are there any other things to try? Has anyone tried completely uninstalling MS Office and reinstalling?     - Remove PST files from Outlook 2003 or 2007 profile Our Sys Admins are trying to come up with a way to remove a PST file from an Outlook profile. We have a way to batch a login script in Active Directory so that we can delete the PST file from the user's PC, but no way to stop the inevitable error message when Outlook can't find the file(s) at next start-up. Ideally, we would like to have a script or command that removes any PST from the Outlook profile that we could batch at login, followed by our PST delete script. Any way to do this? There was a blog from 2006 (http:// jeremiahcook.blogspot.com/2006/08/how-to-remove-psts-from- outlook.html) that referenced a script removing the entries from the registry, but the referenced link no longer works.     - Identity Login screen pops up every time I open Outlook 2007 Hi, I have just upgraded Outlook Express 6 to Outlook 2007.     - Send Email to Self Using Outlook client through Gmail Hi all, I am trying to send email to myself to my dopey@mycorp.com gmail account (some kind of partner gmail account the Co. is leveraging hence no gmail) Anyway I read all of the instructions on a website how to confogure the Outlook 2007 client, all works great. Now I have an Excel Workbook and I want to add a button to each sheet so the user can click a button and email me the active sheet I used code example from Ron DeBruin link. http://www.rondebruin.nl/mail/folder1/mail2.htm I updated the e-mail address in Ron's sample to my e-mail address and tested the code I can see the e-mail in the sent log, but it never arrives back in my Outlook Inbox. I logged into the webportal and I do see the e-mail sitting in that Inbox. I then tried 2 other email addresses that are also configured to come into my Outlook Inbox using the @mycorp as the sending email address: dopey@gmail.com and dopey@yahoo.com.     - Outlook (trial) Creating Mail? My laptop came with a trial of the usual MS Office apps. After configuring Outlook I see that the menus for anything having to do with actually creating or replying to an email is "greyed-out".     - IMAP and POP coexisting - Outlook 2003 I have several email addresses (accounts in Outlook terms), all delivering to the same location. I'm trying to add an IMAP user to allow better connection to a Web application that only uses IMAP. I added the email account to Outlook OK. I noticed that Outlook created a new message store, and within this a folder called Inbox. I see the same mail in the Outlook Inbox as the Web application. But I can't create any new folders in the IMAP area and can't copy or move folders from the POP store. The way I read the Outlook docs, I should be able to have a hierarchy of folders, but I can't see how to do this. Am I missing something? I was hoping to get IMAP working for just a small part of my messages, and then move everything over (after reducing the size by archiving locally).     - Attachments mysteriously vanishing when I click on messages in pst Weirdest thing I ever experienced in an Office product (I think) is that in Outlook 2007, when I click on a message, it's attachment vanishes! The messages are in an old .pst, and the following columns are visible (in this order from left to right): 1. "!" (urgency?) 2. Message class 3. Attachment paper clip 4. Categories 5. From 6. To 7. Subject 8. Received 9. Size 10. Flags It is absolutely weird. I have a theory it has something to do with the categories field. Before 2007 (i just changed a week ago), I used the categories field obsessively as a tag field and basically abandoned the idea of separate folders to pigeonhole messages. Unfortunately, now 2007 uses this feature in a way that totally destroys my productivity (but that is a separate issue).     - Adding Contacts in Oultook 2007 Causes it to freeze Hi all, Running Outlook 2007 on Vista Business Premium. Every time i try to add a contact (i.e. fill out all the information and click Save & Close) Outlook freezes. I have added a new profile. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have wiped the computer clean and reinstalled Vista and Office. The problem has not gone away I started having this problem with this user when he was running Office 2003 on Windows XP. I have seen some problems with AMD Phenom processors and the current system has one but that doesn't explain the trouble on the prior system. The contacts are shared and his assistant (also running Vista Business and Outlook 2007) also cannot add contacts to his folder. I have checked the permissions and she has editor permissions. This computer is running the Blackberry Desktop software but his assistant is not so I would tend to rule that out but you never know. If anyone has any suggestions I am all ears ...     - Tasks & Notes Missing from Outlook 2007 I recently upgraded one of my users from Office 2003 to Office 2007. We don't use an exchange server. When my user went to open Outlook all settings were fine except for tasks & notes which were missing. We reverted back to Office 2003 and they were still missing. We tried copying the old pst file into her settings but this did not work either. Is there any way of getting back the tasks & notes?     - Changing the Inbox Name!! Hello, As you will probably tell, i'm new to outlook, etc. I've just managed to set up a new email address in outlook 2007, but whilst all my test emails go to a folder marker 'inbox' how can i change the name to state a specific name? I can create sub-folders which do this, but i would like a general folder name which when dropped down would include folders such as inbox, etc. Not sure if i'm making this particularly clear, but can anybody help me here?     - OUTLOOK DOES NOT WANT TO ACTIVATE? I just purchase my computer. It came with an office home and Student 2007. I thought it had microsoft outlook as well and I click on the product key on my CD box. And did not want to activate. I have already set up my emails from other accounts to go to Outlook. But now it's not letting me forward or replay my emails?? What can I do?. I do not want to lose all my emails? Is there a way I can purchase the activation only for Outlook??     - Rules Problem in Outlook 2007 By chance this morning when I arrived at the office, I clicked on "Recover Deleted Items..." for the Inbox. There were several new messages there that should not have been deleted. The following rule turned out to be the culprit: Apply this rule after the message arrives though the pop.gmail.com account and on this machine only move it to the Lists folder and stop processing more rules When some messages from the pop.gmail.com account arrive (Outlook is set to pop the messages from the Gmail account), they are supposed to be moved to the Lists folder.     - Outlook automation: Problem with RTF-Text in body Hello NG, I hope, this is the right forum! I'm using Outlook 2003 SP3 automation for sending emails out of an SQLWindows program written with TD5.1, OS is WinXP prof. Everything works fine with plain text, but when I'm trying to send RTF formatted text all the format characters can be seen in the mail, although Outlook displays the right message format: RTF. I set the BodyFormat property of the Mail item to olFormatRichText and placed the text string in the Body property ( using HTMLBody doesn't work either). The text is well RTF-formatted, I can open it with different editors without problems. Do I have to set additional properties to see a right formatted RTF-text? Can anyone help me?     - Transfer OE Groups (name & address) into Outlook Distribution Groups Does anyone know of a way to to this. My client has 2,500+ names and addresses in Outlook Express that we've moved into Outlook 2007, but the 230+ OE Groups did not come across. It is quite a big job to set up the equivalent OL2007 distribution groups manually (each OE group has 20-800 entries, average is about 80 entries) , does anyone know of a technique or software that will facilitate the migration of OE groups to OL2007 DLs. One constraint is that the OE system is on an XP box & the OL2007 system is on a Vista box, they are on a common network, we would prefer not to have to install OL2007 on the XP box.
