If I go into a word office document and type a letter. it comes up locked and
I cant type anything. How do I unlock it?

Have you activated it?
Is it an expired trial version?

If it came with your machine and was working and now it is 60 days or
whatever later, likely it was just a trial version and if you want it full
time you need to pay for it. Before doing that, I suggest you consider what
other Microsoft Office products, like Excel, you may want and consider
getting them in a package to save a few $$$.

In Word what does Help About say, eg Trial?
