Whenever someone sends me an email with PPS Slide Show, the sounds starts to
play, then a message comes up for me to cancel or convert by buying a key.
Is it necessary for me to buy a key when the only thing I want to be able to
do is hear the sound with the slide show. The slide show will work fine but
I have no sound.

I would guess that you have a trial version of PowerPoint that has expired.
Uninstall it and then install the free PowerPoint viewer from Microsoft's
website.

I uninstalled Powerpoint 2003 and 2007. Then I removed Microsoft Standard
2003 completely from my computer which I never use, then reinstalled
Powerpoint Viewer 2007 and now I have continucous play on the powerpoint
slide shows. I was afraid when I removed Office Standard that I would lose
Microsoft Word Processor but it seems I didn't, thank goodness because i use
that a lot. I am not sure if I will be able to open doc files now or not but
I hope removing Office Standard did not cause me to lose that capability.
Thanks so much for your help which steered me in the right direction to begin
with.

I had the trial version of 2003. I cann ot open a .doc file now. I know I
would always get that same message to convert or cancel when I opened a word
doc file just as on PPS shows. But I could always just cancel and still read
and/or print out the document. Can I just download a file to open .doc files
now that is free or should I just download the trail version of Office? Once
the trial version runs out, then I am sure i would be back in the same
predicament again with the Powerpoint shows though. I really don't use Office
for anything else other than .doc files or Pps files.
