Whenever I cut or copy text from/into a Word/Excel 2003 doc then on the right side
a clipboard overview appears showing all previous clipboard snippets.

How can I permanently (!) hide this pane?

Currently I have always to click the "close" button. But after the next clipboard operation
the clipboard pane re-appears.

IIRC, at the bottom of the Clipboard Pane there is a little icon that you
can either click or right-click and it gives you a list of options. One of
the options is to turn off the Clipboard Pane.

Next time it comes up click on "Options" at bottom.

I have mine set to "show when CTRL + c is pressed twice"

Disable other options.

At the bottom of the pane is an Options button - click this and check
"Collect without showing".
