    - slow to open windows explorer I have an issue with one of our new computers. It is a Dell P4 1gb ram, 2.8 ghz and is on a network. For the last couple weeks the client is complaining that it takes a long time to open windws explorer, once in it is then slow for the first few folders clicked and then seems ok.     - Retrieving pictures from Picture Manager I downloaded some travel pictures from my camera as usual. After I successfully downloaded them and began to rename them, about halfway through, my computer started to go a little wonky and asked me if I wanted to replace the file. (my downloaded photos). I kept pressing the "NO" button. After several attempts, I pressed the "YES" to replace the file (Photo). Now, I do not have any image of my photos. I tried to do a "Go Back" but that didnt work. When I click on the "empty shell" it still contains the date, title and KB and size. It is as if the image is cloaked. When I perform a search, all the photos are where they are supposed to be. I have all the renamed and orginal titles of each picture, there just isn't an image. I have tried everything.     - Protecting a template in word 2007 I have created a service contract and am wanting to lock 4 pages of the document, with certain exceptions. On pages 1-2 the customer has multiple text boxes to fill in, such as name address, etc. The problem is I can not figure out how to lock all of the text within the contract while leaving the text boxes available for editing. I have tried adding sections and setting those sections as read only (which affects the entire document) and also fill in forms, however this does not work since I am not able to create a "section" that excludes the text boxes.     - Office XP Professional and Vista 64-bit Could someone tell me if BOTH of these programs are compatible with a Vista 64- bit system? 1 Office XP Professional 2 Office Professional 2003 My old computer was using XP and my new one is Vista 64 bit. I did a lot of work using Office XP Professional paticularly in Excel on my old computer. My new computer came with a trial version of Office 2007, so took advantage of it using one of the databases from Office XP and playing with it on the new computer with Office 2007. The Office 2007 is now telling me that the work I have done using the trial version needs to be saved under the "new" Office format. I don't want to buy the newer version of Office, so I am wondering if I continue to use it until the trial expires, will the work I have done be for naught since I want to use the older Office XP or 2003. If I save it under the 2007 version, can I go back to using the XP version without loosing my data? Not only am I concerned abt 2 totally differant versions of Office (XP and 2003 versus Office 2007) because of differant extentions, I am also concerned abt the 64-bit Vista as well.     - Reminders set in accepting appt's even though my default is off A coworked of mine (Outlook 2003) sends me appointments. Her default on new appointments is reminders turned off. On my end, my default for reminders is turned off (Outlook 2007). When I accept an appointment from her, it automatically sets a reminder to whatever number I have under Options next to the check box for reminders. For example, I put in 35 minutes, clicked apply, unchecked the box and clicked ok. When I received her appt, it had a 35 minute reminder set on it. I went back in and changed it to 23 minutes, clicked apply, unchecked the box, and clicked ok. When I received her appt, it had a 23 minute reminder. How do I set it so that, if she sends me an appointment with no reminder set, and my default is to not have reminders set on new appointments, it does not set a reminder automatically?     - PowerPoint Publish to CD I am having trouble using the PowerPoint Publish to CD feature. My presentation is composed with powerpoint 2007 on a Vista operating laptop. If I play the published CD automatically in a Windows Vista computer using the enclosed PowerPoint viewer, after a number of slides I get weird symbols and the text gets smashed together in places. If I just open the file off the CD using the regular PowerPoint program Slide Show, and not the viewer, it plays fine. The same thing happens if I play it automatically using the Powerpoint Viewer on some XP systems, but on others, it plays fine. I could really use some help, because I'd like the presentation able to be opened by people who don't have PowerPoint installed on their system. It seems to be a problem between the Presentation and the PowerPoint player. On the task bar I right click and close each one which leaves the empty app in the taskbar. I right click and close that and the program crashes. This sometimes happens when the main window for an application covers up a
dialog box. You can usually find the hidden dialog by pressing Alt+Tab to
cycle through open items.

If you're using Word as your email editor in Outlook then try deselecting
the "Use Word as your email editor" option and see if that clears it up.

If that's not it then please provide us more details on what you are
encountering and please include the application you are referring to and the
version.
