        • MS Office 2007 compatability I have a very old version of MS Excel (5.0c) which I have been using and saving files with for the past fifteen years or so. I am considering purchasing MS Office 2007. Will it be able to open and deal with files from Version 5.0 without any loss of data? Also, does Office 2007 include a feature which would take WordPerfect files and convert them into Word format? Thank you. Tag: handwriting recogntion Tag: 293613

        • Video Playback in Powerpoint 2007 I wrote about a problem with inserting .wmv video files in Powerpoint 2007 a few days ago. After doing some research I figured out that I'm able to insert videos in Powerpoint 2007 however, it appears that there is a limit to how deep in the My Documents folder the Powerpoint file and associated videos can be stored. I had my files stored in the My Documents folder but I have them in about 5 folders deep. Once I moved the Powerpoint file and associated videos to the first level of the My Documents, there was no problem. Has anyone had this problem and are you aware of a bug in Office 2007 that causes this? Tag: handwriting recogntion Tag: 293606

        • can not maximize word2007 and excel2007 I am running Word 2007 and Excel 2007 on a machine that runs on custo shell and when I minimize Word 2007 or Excel 2007, It does not give m an option to maximize. I have to right click on the transparent bo below and select restore or maximize. I tested in using Notepad as the shell and samething happened. I ra Word 2007 in safe mode and same thing happen. The interesting thing i if I run Word 2007 in safe mode and click on Restore Down and manuall drag it to make really small and then click on Minimize, the option t maximize, restore up and close shows fine. If I minimize directly fro a maximized window, it does not give the three options. • Microsoft Word 2003 Error When I opened my 9-page document, there appeared to be many things wrong with it and all of a sudden, some of my information is missing. The number of pages kept increasing until it read 1/**** on the first page. There are countless blank pages after about 4 and a half pages. Does anyone know how to fix this? The document is extremely important and any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Tag: handwriting recogntion Tag: 293596

        • Binder (.OBD) file opening recently I deleted, by mistake, my Office 2000. I have a number of documents tied up in binder files that I can't get access to. I have down loaded the trial version of Microsoft Office professional 2007 and have tried everything to get my binderfiles open. I hav called MS sales 3 times, cut off once, ran out of time 2nd time and then the nice girl on the other end sent me links on how to install the binder support option on the program. Unfortunately, I had tried that a number of times and there is no icon for binder support in the trial version. What I need to know is, is there that option in the full home and Student version. If so, I will buy that version. If not, can someone please tell me how I can gain access to my binder files? Tag: handwriting recogntion Tag: 293595

        • Picture Manager not Installed for Current User Office 2007 We have a test group that is currently evaluating Office 2007. One of the users in the trial is getting a message when she attempts to open a bitmap file. The error is: Picture Manager has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application. I went into Add/Remove programs, selected the Office 2007 entry, clicked the Change button, and stepped through the screens until I found the page that shows the installed options. The Picture Manager is definitely installed. I have run a couple of Google searches and have not found much on this specific error. Although, now that my user has left for the day a couple of things do occur to me. First, I only saw the error with one file and did not try other files. Second, we did not try opening Picture Viewer first and then opening the file (we opened it by double-clicking the bitmap file). If I had not been up until 3:00 A.M. last night I would probably have thought to try these things! ;-) Any suggestions you may have will be greatly appreciated. I will post back the resolution when we have one. --Tom Tag: handwriting recogntion Tag: 293594

        • Sending a mass e-mail I send a daily e-mail to about 1500+ recipients using Outlook 2003. I keep the recipients in numbered distribution lists and add them all at once to the BCC line in my e-mail each time I send it. I receive several e-mails from some of the intended recipients complaining that they sometimes to not get the e-mail they expect to see from me on a daily basis. I'm looking for a way to send a mass e-mail containing a small PDF attachment to these people so it looks like an individually-addressed e-mail as if I had sent 1500 separate e-mails (in order to bypass SPAM filters that I think are blocking this e-mail due to the large number of BCC'd addressees). What function in Outlook allows for this? -- B. Aston Tag: handwriting recogntion Tag: 293571

I have vba code in my forms that do a lot of work. The 'calculating...' message is shown when it is running. On most system this message only displays for 1-2 seconds. On the Lenovo's it is always showing 'Calculating' and some fields that are filled with DLookup functions are not working or take several minutes to work. I have remove all antivirus and firewalls to see if that was the problem, with no change. Any ideas? Tag: handwriting recogntion Tag: 293569

        • Typography in Office I design a lot of Powerpoint presentations, and create newletters etc. The sad thing is that Office wont let me use advanced typography features lite (true) small caps, ligatures, swashes etc. This is a serious problem for me. I have been thinking of a possible workaroud: If there is a windows application that will let me use the above features I could write/design the text there. • I need helping backing up contacts, mail and calendar from Office I am upgrading from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Hooray! The problem is, it is not an upgrade version, it is a completely new version. So before I install 2007, I need to uninstall 2003, right? My problem is, Office 2007 will be here 5/12/08. I need to backup my contacts, mail, and calendar, so that I can import it back into 2007. The problem is that there are so many options of ways to export it and import it, I have no idea which one to choose. I don't want to choose the wrong one. It would be a disaster if I lost the calendar and my emails. Is there another way? How can I back the stuff up? Thank you for your help! Tyler Tag: handwriting recogntion Tag: 293512

        • move autotext entries from Word 2003 to Word 2007 I have tried in vain to move my old autotext entries from Word 2003 to Word 2007 following advice MVP Beth Melton gave on 1/2/2007 to a question by Mike Kuch: renaming the old Normal.dot to AutoText.dot and placing it into user â?? App.Data â?? Roaming â?? Microsoft â?? DocumentBuildingBlock â?? 1031. Then I have moved BuildingBlocks.dotx out of this folder, so that there is only one folder left in the 1031, namely Autotext.dot (which is the renamed file from normal.dot from Office XP). It doesnâ??t work with me. To give an example, I write in Word 2007 NYT and add F3, there will be no reaction, where under Word 2003 it would roduce "New York Times". Where is my fault? • MODI should install by default in Office 2007 MODI should not be hidden in the Office 2007 installation. It should automatically be included in the standard installation by default. This concerns me. It gives me the impression that Microsoft is not committed to enhancing and supporting this application in the future. • MODI opens quite slowly I've been using the MODI feature for years in Office 2003 and love it. I have a new PC with Vista and installed Office 2007 - including the MODI feature, which was hidden. When I try to open MODI my mouse pointer locks up for about 20-30 seconds and then the MODI app finally opens. When the app is open and I access additional documents, the additional instances open immediately - it's just the first instance that locks up for about half a minute. I've run the "repair" utility for Office in Control Panel/Programs but that didn't help. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2007. Is anyone else having this problem? Can anyone give me any suggestions on what to do? Tag: handwriting recogntion Tag: 293475

        • Removing installed (unused) programs I like to keep my system updated. However I am not sure if I should remove old/outdated system programs. For example, in the Add/Remove Programs window I have NET. Framework 1.1 (with all updates), NET. Framework 2.0 service pack one (with all updates), and NET. Framework 3.0 which I assume is the most up-to-date and therefore is the installed and currently used NET. Framwork. Do I really need to keep the other NET. Framework programs (1.1 and 2.0)? • MS Office 2007 Trial - HELP!! I downloaded the trial version today & have been having problems right from the start: 1. When I opened Word or Powerpoint, the Activation Wizard says that the trial is expired (which I can't understand as I only downloaded & activated a few hours ago) & that I should convert to the full product. 2. When I try 'Word Options' and click 'Activate', it gives me the same message. 3. If I click 'Cancel', I can't key in anything cos it says "The selection is locked". I read the link that Carey gave as her reply about locked content but I can't seem to find the 'Properties' Button - so i still have a problem with locked content (even when there is no content). I don't understand where I went wrong. I followed all the on-screen instructions step-by-step & I had already keyed in the product key given when I was prompted to do so. I even tried calling the Microsoft Technical Support, which referred me to Activation Centre, which referred me back to Technical Support. As this is a new PC, I don't have an older version of MS Office to fall back on & I'm at my wit's end cos I have an assignment due very soon & i need the powerpoint as I don't have the time to do it during office hrs. :-( If anybody has any idea what to do, I'd appreciate any suggestions.
