I will soon be going back to college for a degree in Finance. I will be using Office, Excel, Powerpoint and Access. I have received opposing answers from the IT department where I work.     - Incorrect Folder View My folder views are set to DETAIL. But I have one Excel file that incorrectly shows the "i-Tunes" column tab headings (Artist, Genre, Album, etc.) in the SAVE AS diolague box when I do a "FILE ...SAVE AS". How do I get the view details to show the normal Excel column headings (Date, Type, Size, Modified, etc.) when I want to close and "SAVE AS" this one particular Excel file.     - Envelop address prints in wrong place, can't adjust. Hi, I have Word 2003, and a somewhat elderly HP Deskjet 932C printer, all on XP Pro SP3. The printer has a slot for envelopes, right side of tray, and the envelope is inserted the long way in with face down, flap on left. The print envelop function shows this as the default for this printer, with the address in the correct location. However, it actually prints along the top, between the return address and where the stamp would be. If I go into the options and manually select a position, which moves toward the bottom of the envelope, it still prints in exactly the same location at the top.     - Office 2003 Student/Teacher - can I install on more than 1 compute I currently have Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 installed on my desktop PC (running on XP Home Edition SP2). My son now has a new notebook (running on Vista) and we would like to be able to install the Office 2003 suite onto his notebook. However, I'm not sure whether this is allowable. The back of the CD case states "Install full versions of the latest Office products on up to three of your home PCs." but in the guide booklet it states the following: "To help reduce software piracy, the Office 2003 Editions use the product activation system, which allows your copy of the Office 2003 Edition to be installed on only one computer."     - office 2003 word replacement For some reason when I mark a word (mark it blue with the left click using mouse) and then try to replace it with another word, it dosnt delete the previous word with the new one. I just bought the educational version but I guess I cant use the product key that came with that to activate the trial version.     - Solution to register form w/ office 2007 I have been trying for the past week to get the free trial of microsoft office 2007. I finally was able to figure out the problem. I currently have a new laptop with windows vista and i have a 2002 destop with windows xp. I was curious to see if i tried to download office 2007 free trial on the desktop with xp would it work? Well it did, what i noticed is that on the register form for the free trial on my desktop all the fields were field in already. So there was no need for me to enter united states in the country/region field!!!! Which I know alot of you are having problems with. As soon as you select your country/region the page refreshes and clears out the entire form. Well my friends what you have to do, is go to your toolbar settings and click on the auto fill form and fill in your information. What it does, is when forms come up that askes you all of your information such as name, address, phone nimber, etc. This option automatically fills in the information for you, based on what you entered on the "autofill form". You fiil out the form hit save and then it tells you, to close that window and open a new internet explorer window. Well i did do all of that and when i signed in with my windows live ID and the register form appeared all my information was already there. All i had to was enter my business info, clicked continue and i was able to download the free trial. I plan on emailing the support team back, because at the time i hadn't figured this out yet, but i will let them know, what i figured out and what helped me.     - Converting 2007 .docx to earlier .doc leaves off borders My sister sent a document to me done in Word 2007 with a pretty border.     - document imaging I'm running Vista Home Premium and Office 2007. When I scan a document using Office Document Imaging, and convert using the OCR option, all seems to go well. But when I click on "Send Text to Word", a message box titled Server Busy pops up. The message is "This action cannot be completed because the 'document1-microsoft word' program is not responding.     - Reposting: Of Extremely Disapointed with MS Since the full post has disapeared, I'm reposting including a responce to Bob1: Hey Friends, I have to Vent!!! I am so ticked-off with microsoft. After buying a new laptop a year ago I relized that outlook express no longer had the spell checker. I have a spell checker in works 8.5 and a dictionary, but neither are able to work with outlook express. So I have to open works, create email their, spell check it, then copy paste. Not horrificaly difficult, but come on, it was avalible in prior versions of works/outlook express. Would need to buy Office 2007. I don't need an office suite for what I do. I do need a spell checker though as I'm sure I'll have mispelled in this rant. Then I UPGRADE to vista home premium only to find and fix many issues with that alone. Find that many older programs don't work and the UAC is a pain for someone performing adminstrative tasks. Yes, I've turned it Off. Anyway, I went to send a fax and what you know, NO FAX Service with Home/Home PREMIUM. And Microsoft has the nerve to label new OS's as New and Improved. Thats BS!!! MS keeps removing the most usefull things so you buy the most exprensive. Vista is a Downgrade with Eye Candy and a user data collection database. Well, MS, you can keep your eye candy, I want the functionality with the programs that the earier OS's included. Who's happy with a nice looking screen that has nothing usefull anymore which once did. They give you less funtionality with a pretty window, only now the window doesn't open anything and when it does, it completely black on the other side. I've takeN notice and am no longer a MS customer. I don't care how much trouble I have with Linux OS, the next one will be that or Apple. I may not even wait, I have a couple of empty hard drives to load a free copy of many linux choices to start getting used to. And when I'm satisfied, I'll drop MS completely. Why have I choosen to write this in the Office area, because since I don't have an offce suite, I was going to get "Home and Student", but guess what, it doesn't include a fax service program!!! Imagine that, an office suite not having a fax service, Are you kidding me, I've had it!!! I cant believe an Office Suite wouldn't have a fax service that was once included in ALL versions of XP, and even ME. You know evertime I read this or think about how all theese things were once included in older OS's, I get so mad that MS has the nerve to advertise, New and Improved, Updated, Upgraded, Faster, Better, more features, more secure. Well folks something is either secure or not, theirs no inbetween. Have you seen the list of fixes included with Vista SP1!!! I'm sick of them saying the same dam thing with every new os when they know the're giving you less, so one realy has to upgrade. ***No Spell Checker in OE without Office... ***No Fax service in Vista Home/Home PREMIUM... ***No Fax Service in Office... ***No Media Center in Vista Business, has fax service ***Whats left to cover all basis, Ultimate with that hefty price tag, and they know it. ***My cunclusion to these issues... *****NO LONGER A CUSTOMER!!!***** Fight Back the Only way businesses take notice... Don't buy from them. And they wonder why retail box versions of Vista is in the trash. They lowered the price, the first time in history the current os price was ever lowered! and still sales are stagnit. Thanks for reading. If you open an excel file by double clicking it, the file doesn't open but excel does with a gray screen. If you click on the Round start button then the file magically opens. If by hd cleaned you mean reformated, and or Office was uninstalled, then it
might depend how you obtained Office.
If a retail version and you can prove purchase, then MS will supply a key.
However if Office came preinstalled when you bought the PC, then you would
have to ask that PC supplier.
