All of my folders for my classes have suddenly disappeared off of my desktop,
so now there are no shortcuts. I have not opened any of the folders or any
of the documents all summer and now that I am trying to find them, they are
nowhere to be found. If I go to my computer and look into the C drive, then
my documents, I finally found a hidden folder of recent documents that has
most of my files listed. When I click on them to open them up, it says the
shortcut no longer works, it has been moved and my computer cannot open up
any of my files...PLEASE HELP!! :/

Make a note of a file listed in recent documents then do a search.
Or Open My Documents direct from the Desktop or Via Start then look in
there, I would assume you saved them to a folder within My Documents
Saving docs on the desktop is IMO bad practice, treat My Documents as a
Filing Cabinet and save them there, in specific folders if neccessary.
I also wonder if you have any data backups

If they were stored on your Desktop did you check your Recycle Bin? Also
check any folders that may also be placed on your Desktop. If you perform a
search for the files and are unable to find them then in the future you
might not want to store important files directly on your Desktop. In doing
so you increase your chances of losing them. Instead, create a shortcut to
the folder they are stored in on the Desktop.

Perhaps Desktop cleanup was run? And they are in the Unused icon folder?
