I had this happen with German Language Pack for Office 2007. I had to email
Microsoft Office Customer Support to get an "unlock code" which is something
different from the "product key" that I had originally used months before.
The first time I tried to reinstall I got an error "Aktivierung
Fehlgeschlagen - unknown error" when I tried to activate the product using
the product key in the Digital River SecuROM Product Activity Screen. I had
to get an unlock code from MS Customer Support for "Manuelle Aktivierung".
With the unlock code, the original installation files that I had saved
worked just fine. I believe that what happened in my case was that Digital
River, the "vendor of record" for the download, simply lost my order
information. When I wrote to them they had no record of my order.
I have saved the unlock code and hopefully it will work next time. By the
way US English Office 2007 comes with Spanish and French proofing tools. I
wouldn't need a French language pack unless I wanted the templates or the
user interface in French.
