When I use Word, Office and Excel, every few minutes my cursor turns into the
hourglass and just hangs there for about 10 seconds. I think this started
after I installed Acrobat Professional 8, so I uninstalled it to download
some Office updates, etc.

The hang ups didn't occur while Acrobat wasn't running, and started again
when I reinstalled it (I think). However, uninstalling Acrobat a second time
didn't fix the stalling, so I've reinstalled it and am trying not to get too
annoyed at the constant stalling. Doesn't happen when I'm using Explorer or
Acrobat.

Any brilliant solutions out there?

Have you applied the latest patches to Acrobat?

I am sorry I don't have any ideas, but it might be helpful if you
indicated what version of Office you are using.

As echo suggested, I applied an Acrobat patch. Still stalling.

In answer to Joseph, it's Office 2007, XP operating system.

One thing PowerPoint 2007 relies on heavily is printer drivers. I suspect
Word and Excel do, too, but I don't know for sure.

Anyway, trying this isn't difficult:

How to install a local printer driver
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00605.htm

The driver needs to be local -- not on a network, and try setting it as your
default printer.

Otherwise, what other add-ins do you see listed in the Options for Word and
Excel?
