    - Cannot access Excel I have the Office XP home edition. Last month when I tried to open my Excel, I was prompted to insert my Microsoft Office XP CD-ROM. I cannot find it anywhere. I have had this program on my computer for several years now and have never had a problem up until now. I purchased the CD-ROM from Microsoft so it is not a bootleg or anything. I am able to access all of my other Office programs (Word, Access, etc) but the Excel program won't work. When I click cancel after I am prompted to insert the CD I receive a message that says "Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network or CD-ROM drive. For other potential solutions to this problem see C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10\1033\SETUP.HLP." How can I fix this problem since I cannot find my CD?     - creating a evite I need to create an evite for a banquet to which I will be inviting about 1000 people. Does anyone know if using Outlook is a good way to do this, if so, how would I do it? I am hoping that the evite will have a method to RSVP and update my list upon receiving the RSVP.     - Office 2007 Templates I'm trying to put together a course on basic Word techiques. I thought to make things easier for the student to see how everything works, I'd let them use an installed template as a starting point. It seems Microsoft got very lazy in building the templates.As a rule, they put all the main body of the document with graphics in one control, and there's no way to overtype anything in place like there are for all the other, shorter sections like Company Name. Also, graphics can't be copied if they're not in their own selectable section. What I did temporarily was to click on the control, which can then be copied. Then deleted the control, then clicked on Paste/Paste Special/Unformatted Text. Now the body appeared as text, but any formatting is gone, which is the whole purpose of a template.     - Visio 2007 with Office 2003 Since you cannot buy 2003 anymore, I had to purchase Visio 2007 for school. After putting it on my XP machine (with all updates to the OS) and running Windows Update to check for the latest and greatest (it wanted to update the Office '07 components, too), I'm having a problem with Word '03. Opening the first document of the session by double-clicking it on the desktop pulls up the application, but with a "hole" in the upper left, presumably where the ribbon goes in '07, and the menus are scrunched. It fixes itself eventually (after a very long time), but sometimes doesn't pull up the document. Does this mean they cannot coexist? Have I been duped into upgrading my Office suite, too?     - Excel Formula will not populate the correct Calculation in any Wbo Hey Everyone, My Excel Document will not even calculate a simple formula =SUM(A1:A5). All that is in those fields is the number 5. As we all know 5+5+5+5+5=25. My Excel document thinks it is 0. I've tried several different ways of correcting this but it will not work. Currently he has been using the Russian language pack to translate from English to Russian and has found some friends/relatives in Lithuania that can get by with reading/writting Russian.     - Printing Info in a Word Document from within a Word Document I realize this may not be as tricky as I believe it is, but I am lost on the code/objects, etc for it... I am updating and automating documents for my company (in Word) and want to do the following, most likely using a "command button" (e.g. PRINT) and FIELDS to: 1. Identify an area in a document (e.g. two pages of "quick reference" information). a. Annotate the first area with a title to be used as an "open" tag (e.g. QUICK REFERENCE) b. Annotate the section end with a "title" to be used as a "close" tag (e.g. END) 2. Use MS Word FIELDS (if needed) to: a. Locate or "TAG" the first area. b. Locate or "TAG" the second area. 3. Use the PRINT command object to: Print the information between these two areas. At the current time, these documents simply have a comment saying that one can highlight and print the section, but I believe Word is more powerful than that; however, that is also beyond more than my imagination at this time.     - Someone tried to load Office 2007 on my computer, now I have problem I have a new HP desktop that runs Vista. I run Office 2000 on the machine and I am very happy with it. Recently, my wife's office sent her a PowerPoint file as an attachment to the e-mail. For some unearthly reason, the sender decided to send along a programs file that tried to load Office 2007 Student Edition on my machine. This caused all kinds of problems. When I started up my Office 2000 apps, it asked me for the code to load Office 2007 on my machine. Of course I did not have the code and I wanted to get rid of it. I proceeded to delete all of the files my wife received on the attachment. I also was able to uninstall Office 2007 from the Control Panel. It all seems to work ok for me now, however, I still have a problem. When I try to open up my Word program, I receive a message that I am lacking in a file to begin Word 9.0. It obviously has some file or command lurking in the background that thinks I still have Office 2007. I need help getting back to where I was before this whole saga began. Just if you want to know..... I called the guy in my wife's office, who must be taking courses somewhere which entitles him to the Student Edition of Office 2007, why he sent along this program attachment. He mumbled out something like "I wanted to try something out". He is an otherwise sane individual.... I have no idea what he was thinking.     - XP Word / Excel "my documents" takes 70 seconds to open Clicking to open My Documents in 2002 XP Word or Excel takes 70 seconds to open. Outlook opens normally. This just began. I defragged and "checked the volume for errors" but still the same. I have 1gig of memory with 550 mg free. 80 gig hard drive with 55 gig available.     - HELP - Outlook 2003 won't allow me to add new appointments or cont I am at an impasse with outlook. For some reason my outlook 2003 will no longer allow me to add new appointments nor contacts to my address book or edit existing data.     - Big ask - need help formatting data from vb to word doc Hi All I know this is a big ask, but I could really do with some help making the below reliable and as fast as possible. In essence I have a word doc consisting of 1 table, which has about 20 cols and 6 rows. In my VB app, I have a list of say 30 - 35 people, who have to go into specific cells in this word doc table. I have managed to do this by using a CASE statement to concat the names (+ a carriage return) into an array (let's say of 20 values, ie 20 cols for 1 row) and then I squirt the content of each value in the array into the relevant cell bookmarks in the Word doc. I have this bit working perfectly. The problem is that these people are flagged with certain attributes, which in turn need to be graphically represented on the word doc either by text background colours, text foreground colours or styles (ie bold, italic & underline). I have all of this info available to me in an array, but my problem is that I don't APPEAR to be able to 'tag' these styles to the people. For example if I could use tags like I can in HTML, I could do the following in my array: Array(0) = "<red><bold>Fred Smith</bold></red>" & vbCrLf & "<green><italic>Fred Smith2</italic></green>" & vbCrLf .... etc... Array(1) = "<yellow>Fred Smith3</yellow>" & vbCrLf & "<underline>Fred Smith4</underline>" & vbCrLf .... etc... and so on... What I'm trying to say is that the tags allow me to format each person in the array, but I don't think Word VBA can do this - am I right? Can you think of another way round this, bearing in mind that I don't know how many people will be in each cell and each person can have different attributes to the others in the same cell.     - Broken receive in Outlook Hello, [apologies for multiple postings] I'm experiencing a strange problem with Outlook 2003. Just recently, receiving email stopped working. If I push the Send/Receive button (or hit F9) nothing happens! Normally the status bar would indicate that send/receive is in progress, but now there's nothing. There are no error messages. If I open and pin the Outlook Send/Receive Progress window, nothing happens there either, when I try to make Outlook receive email. When I've written an email and press Send it is sent directly (I'm on broadband) and that's also indivated in the Outlook Send/Receive Progress window, if it's open. I've tried: * Deleting and re-installing the email acoount. If I press the Test Account Settings button, everthing works OK (Outlook finds the POP3 server), except that the test email is never received back in Outlook (it does arrinve to my yahoo-account). * Starting Outlook in Safe Mode, but this does not change anything. * Runing Outlook with logging amd pressing the Send/Receive button several times.The sole result is: 2007.09.21 21:23:49 <<<< Logging Started (level is LTF_TRACE) >>>> 2007.09.21 21:23:49 Resource manager terminated which doesn't mean much to me.     - Outlook 2002/XP hanging on startup I'm running Microsoft Office 2002, and am having trouble with Outlook freezing as it starts up. Since my PST file is over 1.82 GB, I think I must have passed the warning point for the 2 GB limit, but did not get the error message (despite the fact that my service packs are up to date!). So I ran PST2GB and cut it down a bit, and ran scanpst on the resulting file. Unfortunately, Outlook hangs every time I try to open it, and I can't even click through the file menus to locate/open the new pst file. So I tried naming the new file to Outlook.pst (and renaming the original) so that it would be loaded instead, but that didn't work long enough to help. I can't even get in to try to compact anything or empty the deleted items folder, because it hangs up immediately upon opening (send/receive)! Does anyone have any other suggestions?     - Office 2000 SBE - Updates etc I hope I have picked the correct group for my thread - it was either here or in office.setup - apologies if I got it wrong - perhaps cross-post may have covered all angles :-). I have just bought a new 2 disc Office 2000 SBE, which I am running in WIN XP SP2 fully updated with all recent security/criticals. This Office is licensed to me and authenticated with MS. I had expected to have been offered updates/upgrades by now as I have seen in the MS Download centre, that there are 100 plus relevant to Office 2000 and include some KB's as well as SP's 1, 2 & 3. Some updates mention applicable systems prior to XP. In particular, more recent ones like the SP3, is offered for those running XP, but mention that SP2 needs to be installed. Then for me things get too complicated when it comes to SP1 & SP1a because neither appear to be for XP. (there is the distinct possibility that I have misread some of the articles on the MS download pages) As I have not been offered any updates, software or security, via Black Tuesdays or WU Home update, does this indicate that I don't need any of them? I would however like to update/upgrade Office as much as I can - if only to be able to open later versions of Publisher.     - List ALL Outlook 2007 Contacts Just upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007 on an XP Pro SP2 machine. I want to review my contacts list and delete some old ones. When I go to Tools -> Address Book, then select Contacts, the screen is blank. Looks like the screen forces you to do a search on a specific character/string. I want to see ALL of my contacts. Tried searching on an asterisk, but it returns no results. I know there are entries in the contact list, since I can search on individual letters and get results that way.     - word and excel problems on office professiuonal 2003 if i double click either excel or word files they don't open, i get folder not responding, some times after about 1 min the program launces but the files do not appear. If i open word or excell then open file the file i want opens immediately. Sometimes if i open the program and open load a file the file i was trying to open but failed suddenly appears. I am running XP pro and use McAfee. I am running Microsoft Vista Home Premium and I have to agree to the terms of
use everytime my 2003 office programs start. This prevents me from sending
my scanned OCR to Word.

start word by right clicking on the shortcut and choosing Run as
administrator. Accept the EULA, and it should do the trick.
