My email and Office 2003 programs were working fine up until a few weeks ago.
It started by my Outlook program continually freezing up. I tried running
Office update, got all of those and it still was not working. I uninstalled
all the updates I could (would not let me uninstall Service Pack 3 and
another one can't remember which) and it still was not working. So I
uninstalled the whole suite and reinstalled it. Twice! And it's still not
working properly. Here is the message I get in Outlook:

"Task 'mail.pelicanrealestate.com - Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) :
'Outlook is unable to connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you
continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).'"

My ISP is apparently working fine as I can still check my email through the
web-mail and my administrator has said there are no problems.

Here's the other part. When I try to go into Word or Publisher and search
for "Help" or ClipArt, it won't bring anything up! I've tried looking
through microsoftoffice.com and none of the solutions I have found have
worked.

I do not have a firewall active nor am I actively running an Anti-Virus
program. I stopped running those in hopes that would cure it, but apparently
not. I also ran an anti-spyware cleanup, disk clean-up, and defragmented.
Nothing is working! I do not want to get to the point where I have to
reinstall the whole computer as there is a lot of work related items on here
that I cannot afford to loose and will take a long time to transfer to
another machine. Help me please!

Thanks!

Just a comment: you shouldnt store data you dont want to lose on a pc unless
you have backups, as sooner or later you will lose it.

Did you run detect/repair within OL? or even repair office via the cd?

I did have everything on a separate hard drive at one point but so much has
been added and changed since the last time I backed up. I'm a bad girl I
know!

Yes, I did both of those, no luck :(

Have you run scanpst.exe, the repair tool, on the outlook data file?
In OL, File, offline isnt ticked?
In OL, Tools>Accounts what msgs when you test accounts?
Do you have any anti virus intergrated with OL? If so uninstall it & retest

How do you run the repair tool?

Offline is NOT ticked.

Test Account messages:
"Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Outlook could not connect the
incoming mail server (POP3). The problem could be your SSL or port setting
for the incoming server. Verify your port and SSL settings under More
Settings on the Advanced tab."

and

"Send test e-mail message: Outlook could not connect to the outgoing mail
server (SMTP). The problem could be your SSL or port settings for the
outgoing server. Verify your port and SSL settings uner More Settings on the
Advanced tab."

I checked all these settings and they are correct.

No anti-virus intergrated into OL as far as I know.

Also noticed that other programs installed on my machine outside of the
Office programs are not being able to connect to the internet for updates
(including Adobe). This is driving me nuts!!

Uninstall Norton, if it has been installed, but you have disabled it, visit

Cannot unistall Norton. Says I need to login as supervisor, but Norton will
not open for me to login. It just freezes. When I go to the Symantec
web-site for assistance, it says to open the program......which is the
problem.......
