Sending a mass e-mail
I send a daily e-mail to about 1500+ recipients using Outlook 2003. I keep
the recipients in numbered distribution lists and add them all at once to the
BCC line in my e-mail each time I send it. I receive several e-mails from
some of the intended recipients complaining that they sometimes to not get
the e-mail they expect to see from me on a daily basis. I'm looking for a
way to send a mass e-mail containing a small PDF attachment to these people
so it looks like an individually-addressed e-mail as if I had sent 1500
separate e-mails (in order to bypass SPAM filters that I think are blocking
this e-mail due to the large number of BCC'd addressees). What function in
Outlook allows for this?

MS Access on Lenovo laptops
I'm having a problem with MS Access 2007 that appears to be limited to new
Lenovo laptops. They are using Office 2007 on Windows XP Pro.
I have vba code in my forms that do a lot of work. The 'calculating...'
message is shown when it is running. On most system this message only
displays for 1-2 seconds. On the Lenovo's it is always showing 'Calculating'
and some fields that are filled with DLookup functions are not working or
take several minutes to work.
I have remove all antivirus and firewalls to see if that was the problem,
with no change. Any ideas? Tag: Office 2007 AutoSize Tag: 293569

Typography in Office
I design a lot of Powerpoint presentations, and create newletters etc. The
sad thing is that Office wont let me use advanced typography features lite
(true) small caps, ligatures, swashes etc. This is a serious problem for me.
I would hate to have to buy a mac just to be able to use features like this.
I have been thinking of a possible workaroud:
If there is a windows application that will let me use the above features I
could write/design the text there.

I need helping backing up contacts, mail and calendar from Office
I am upgrading from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Hooray!
The problem is, it is not an upgrade version, it is a completely new
version. So before I install 2007, I need to uninstall 2003, right?
My problem is, Office 2007 will be here 5/12/08. I need to backup my
contacts, mail, and calendar, so that I can import it back into 2007. The
problem is that there are so many options of ways to export it and import it,
I have no idea which one to choose. I don't want to choose the wrong one.
It would be a disaster if I lost the calendar and my emails. Is there
another way? How can I back the stuff up?

move autotext entries from Word 2003 to Word 2007
I have tried in vain to move my old autotext entries from Word 2003 to Word
2007 following advice MVP Beth Melton gave on 1/2/2007 to a question by Mike
Kuch: renaming the old Normal.dot to AutoText.dot and placing it into user â??
App.Data â?? Roaming â?? Microsoft â?? DocumentBuildingBlock â?? 1031.
Then I have moved BuildingBlocks.dotx out of this folder, so that there is
only one folder left in the 1031, namely Autotext.dot (which is the renamed
file from normal.dot from Office XP).
It doesnâ??t work with me. To give an example, I write in Word 2007 NYT and
add F3, there will be no reaction, where under Word 2003 it would roduce
"New York Times".
Where is my fault? I would be grateful for help.

MODI should install by default in Office 2007
MODI should not be hidden in the Office 2007 installation. It should
automatically be included in the standard installation by default. This
concerns me. It gives me the impression that Microsoft is not committed to
enhancing and supporting this application in the future. MODI is one of the
best features of Office and I truly hope that Microsoft does not
underestimate the value of it.

MODI opens quite slowly
I've been using the MODI feature for years in Office 2003 and love it. I
have a new PC with Vista and installed Office 2007 - including the MODI

open and I access additional documents, the additional instances open
immediately - it's just the first instance that locks up for about half a
minute. I've run the "repair" utility for Office in Control Panel/Programs

Removing installed (unused) programs
I like to keep my system updated. However I am not sure if I should remove
old/outdated system programs. For example, in the Add/Remove Programs window
I have NET. Framework 1.1 (with all updates), NET. Framework 2.0 service pack
one (with all updates), and NET. Framework 3.0 which I assume is the most
up-to-date and therefore is the installed and currently used NET. Framwork.
Do I really need to keep the other NET. Framework programs (1.1 and 2.0)?
Is it safe to delete/uninstall them?

MS Office 2007 Trial - HELP!!
I downloaded the trial version today & have been having problems right from
the start:
1. When I opened Word or Powerpoint, the Activation Wizard says that the
trial is expired (which I can't understand as I only downloaded & activated a
few hours ago) & that I should convert to the full product.
2. When I try 'Word Options' and click 'Activate', it gives me the same
message.
3. If I click 'Cancel', I can't key in anything cos it says "The selection
is locked". I read the link that Carey gave as her reply about locked content
but I can't seem to find the 'Properties' Button - so i still have a problem
with locked content (even when there is no content).
I don't understand where I went wrong. I followed all the on-screen
instructions step-by-step & I had already keyed in the product key given when
I was prompted to do so.
I even tried calling the Microsoft Technical Support, which referred me to
Activation Centre, which referred me back to Technical Support. As this is a
new PC, I don't have an older version of MS Office to fall back on & I'm at
my wit's end cos I have an assignment due very soon & i need the powerpoint
as I don't have the time to do it during office hrs. :-( If anybody has any
idea what to do, I'd appreciate any suggestions. Many tks in advance! Tag: Office 2007 AutoSize Tag: 293454

Office 2007 "Help" causes errors
I'm running Windows XP Home with SP2 and now SP3.
Having received Office Enterprise 2007, I uninstalled Office XP, then
installed 2007 without problems. All programs seem to open and work
correctly, except that the "Help" function generates errors. For example: I
open Word, click on the Office Button, click on Word Options, and then
click on the "?" at the top right. The "Word Help" window starts to open,
and, presumably, to load (i.e., the hourglass turns); then, before anything
appears in the window, a "Microsoft Office Help Viewer" box opens, saying
that "Microsoft Office Help Viewer encountered a problem and needs to
close.... etc...." Basically, the same thing happens when I use F1 in any
of the apps, as well.
Thinking that it might be a TSR or something else in the background, I
tried using a "clean boot" (as shown, for example, at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353); the same problem occurs,
regardless. Through "Add/Remove Programs", I also tried running "Repair
Office". It finished successfully... but the problem remains.
I'd be grateful for any solutions or suggestions.

Strange problem with Arial font
Hello,
I'm having an odd problem with my fonts in Outlook and Word. When I use
Arial it will only appear in Bold. I haven't selected bold and I can't get
rid of it. When I checked Format/Font from the menu options I noticed that
the dialogue box doesn't have an option for "Regular" under the "Font Style".
It seems to be the only font that doesn't have this option. I checked in the

there is, it's called "arial.ttf".
Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Microsoft Charity Licensing price
Hello,
My question is I work in a Non-Proft organization. Now for MS charity
licenses is the price flat out 1 consistant price? or is it avaiable to
vendors to (bend) the rules?
I've notice prices range from $65 to $72 from different vendors and Computer
manufacturers... HP, Dell, Gateway and 3rd party resellers.
If so, is there a price range they can not break?
Another question, can a vendor or reseller get sanction by Microsoft for
selling licenses below charity pricing?

have a few vendors going below charity prices that I normally see. Tag: Office 2007 AutoSize Tag: 293432

MERGE FILES QUESTIONS
There are two questions here:
(1) I click Save As > another file with a different name.
Office comes up with a box that asks if I want to replace file, overwrite
file with changes, merge files. I click "merge."
Just *what* is this doing? The Help button is useless for information about
merging document files.
(2) After clicking "merge," four windows pop up: On the left, a long, thin
window showing (I guess) the changes made in the merge; a big window in the
middle showing the combined document; on the right, two boxlike windows
showing the two original files.
I closed the window on the left. But, . . . how do I get it back?
I tried going back to Square One (open document > Save As > choose another
file > select third option: merge). Nothing happened. The window did not
come back. In fact, nothing happened like it did the first time. All it did
was open up the other selected document, presumably, with the changes already
merged.
Once again, the Office Help function was as helpful as Clippy. Tag: Office 2007 AutoSize Tag: 293415
