Hi,
I have a Wireless LAN with three computers all running Windows XP Pro SP II.
All comuters have full firewall, Windows Firewall is on with excceptions
allowing access to shared files within my local network.

The computers keeps getting and loosing the access to shared files all the
time. E.g. when I want to copy a group of files from a computer to another,
the copying is interrupted saying that the access to the other PC is gone
...

Can nay one explain this behaviour and tell me how to get rid of it?

Ragards,
M Shafaat

Hello M,

Did you try it without the firewall? Also give some info about your ip configuration.
Post an ipconfig /all from two machines.

Best regards

Hello Meinolf,
Thank you for your reply.
I tried without Windows firewall, it doesn't seem to solve the problem.

Can the problem depend on the router keeping to renew the IP-addresses,
because it is set to "Dynamic DHCP"? Anyhow I changed the router DHCP
setting to static mode and want to run the LAN with this setting a time to
see its effects.

Hi,

Have you tried turning simple files sharing off?

My Computer---->Tools----->Folder Options------>View----> under advanced
settings.....the option is at the bottom. uncheck it and then go to the
folder you are sharing and amend the admin rights to that folder (you can
access this from the properties of the folder)
