Windows 2000 SP4 hangs at Preparing Network Connections

Windows 2000 SP4 server now hangs at "Preparing Network Connections"
after power failure this last weekend. I can get the machine back up
by unhooking NIC cable and booting machine. After it is booted, I hook
up NIC and the machine works fine and so does the complete network.
The machine is the Exchange server also. Safe Mode with Networking
does not boot the machine up.

Any ideas on this because I am stumped.

Have you tried a different network card?

Hello chris@sorghumgrowers.com,

Remove the NIC from the computer properties with the device manager and reinstall
with the newest drivers.
