Is it possible to set up a LAN before I have a cable or DSL modem available.
I would like to network a wireless laptop and two desktops using a
Linksys wireless 4 port router before I subscribe to a cable or DSL
service then at a later date add the cable/dsl modem.
Is this possible or do I have to have access to the internet before I
can build the network?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

You can do that. Make sure the PCs are set to get their LAN IPs from the
router's built-in DHCP server. You will just be using the router as a
wireless access point and network switch in that case. Here is a nice set of
articles from MS.
