I have 2 computers, both Windows XP and for some reason I cannot copy or move
powerpoint files (.ppt) from one to the other. I can move everyting else,
graphics, documents etc. Any suggestions. This is a wired network not
wireless.

What happens when you try? If you receive an error message, please quote the
text exactly. Is PowerPoint closed when you are trying to move the files?

The copy will start and looks like it is going, then this error message comes
up:

Cannot copy <filename>: The specified network name is no longer available

I can immediately go to any other file and copy or move, just not .ppt's
Thanks

Very strange. Perhaps you have restrictive permissions set on those
particular files. You also didn't answer my question as to whether
PowerPoint was open or not. So the only thing I can suggest is for you to:

1. Answer the First Question of Troubleshooting: assuming this problem
didn't always happen, what changed between the time things worked and the
time they didn't?

2. Look at the permissions on those particular files and also the size. If
they are huge and you are trying to copy them to a FAT32 drive, that could
be the reason.

Other than that, all I can suggest is that you ask the PowerPoint experts in
the PowerPoint newsgroup. Make sure you include a lot more detail in that
post; i.e., the answers to the above and what version of PowerPoint in
which the files were created.
