Hi

My system consists of 3 PC's, 1 desktop and 2 laptops. All connected to a
Netgear RangeMax Next router DG83N. The Laptops wireless and the desktop with
cable. All machines run Windows XP SP3. I think it all worked fine before I
updated to SP3.

Problem: The Laptops communicate with each other but the desktop is not seen
anywhere. Printer and scanner are conncted to the desktop. All units connect
to the internet independently.

I have run the guide several times and checked all settings but I cannot get
it work. Would be grateful if someone could help me with this problem.

Hi
Check the Netgear support site and see if there is any info about the
RangeMax and WinXP SP3.

I've checked and updated the router, with no result. I can reach the laptops
from the desktop but not the other way around. Thus the Laptops can't find
the desktop. There is no trouble with the internet connection from any of the
PC's, but the local network (MSHOME) seems not to be established. The network
shows up on all 3 PC's but only with itself as member of the workgroup. All
connections also display internet as the network place, not the local network
as I thought it should.

Stef,

I'd look at Windows Firewall, and any other personal firewall or malware
protections, for something blocking Windows Networking, first.

Next, diagnose the problem using logs from "browstat status" and "ipconfig
/all", from each computer. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely (download browstat!):

I've got this exact same problem, and can't seem to figure it out.
Chuck, the links you provided are all dead. Any ideas would be
appreciated.

Networking between computers was fine before the SP3 upgrade.
