Ok been twiddling around...
On the Ireland server (oserver.yourdomain.local) i have now one nic facing
the router of :
192.168.15.2
255.255.255.0
192.168.15.254 (router)
and the other nic facing the internal network:
192.168.16.1
255.255.255.0
on the same server, i can ping both address's (expected) but when trying to
open them as a network share, there's problems,
ie clicking Start/Run then entering :
\\192.168.16.1
...results in the local network share opening - as expected
clicking Start/run then entering:
\\192.168.15.2
...results in a pause of about 30 seconds then a message informing me it
cannot locate the network share.
This to me - baring in mind i know very little on routing tables etc, sounds
like there is no link between the nic's ie segregated. I am then assuming
its simply a case of an addition to the ireland's routing table?
Another thing to bare in mind, which might help someone identify the
problem, on the Ireland server, i can open a share located on a server in
Warrington (there's a vpn tunnel) by entering its full domain eg
Start \ Run
\\dbase.mydomain.lan
This opens the share located on the dbase server in Warrington, which is fine.
From the other side ie the Warrington server, i enter:
Start \ Run
\\oserver.yourdomain.local
After a short pause - the no network share available msg appears. (tried
also via ip)
Please help! - i have spent the day bashing my head on this and got pretty
much no where and feel rather disheartened by the whole thing - it feels like
its just out of my reach...tip of my tongue, just around the corner, etc,
etc... Can someone PLEASE help ?
Thanks in advance!!!
