I have IE6 with XP SP3. I am at work on a lan connection, which has a proxy
guarding Internet access, and this is stored in the Lan connections window in
IE. I decided to attempt a VPN connection to my home router (A draytek 2800)
using PPTP. This connects and works well, and I have specified for it to not
replace my local gateway.
This means all local traffic works and all remote traffic works
concurrently. However I have discovered that once I connect to the VPN, IE
seems to use the LAN connection to access the Internet, but uses any settings
specified in the VPN dial up connection option. Because I did not have the
proxy put in here it would not connect to the Internet, if I put the proxy in
it works fine. Why is IE doing this and how do I prevent it?
