Hello,

i tried to create a VPN connection on one of our clients. The wizzard
appear, I setup a new VPN connection - but when I click "Finish", the
wizzard will close, but there will be no new VPN connection.

Can't I create a VPN connection, because the client is a domain member
or what is going on?

Network:
Server: Win2k3 SBS
Clients: Windows XP SP2 (domain members)

Regards,
Igor

Did you configure VPN in Server Management? Did you run the CEICW and
configure access from the Internet? Is your firewall configured to forward
ports correctly for PPTP connections?

You can't test your VPN connection while using a domain-member computer
connected to your LAN, of course. But you can test with something *outside*.

Hi there,

This seems to be the reason.
I didn't know, that a domain-member computer cannot connect to another
network using a VPN connection.

Thanks.

No, that's not what I meant. If you have a computer on your domain, and are
trying to make a VPN connection to a server *outside* your network entirely,
you can. You just can't make a VPN connection to a server on the same LAN as
your workstation.

OK.
So it should be possible, what I am trying. Have you got an idea, why
the VPN wizzard seems to finish, but no connection is created?

Again, I start the wizzard and finish it, but there won't be any VPN
connection. The wizzard disappears and that's it. No error message...

Actual I don't know, if I run the CEICW, but it is server thing, isn't
it? So, when it is a server thing, what should it change for client
site? The problem is, that I don't see the created VPN connection...
(when you ask me, the wizzard says it created a connection, but it
didn't create one at least).

Yes, the domain user trying to create the VPN is in the local
administrator group.
