    - Multiple Audio Tracks Is there support for multiple audio tracks in WMM? I want to make a sports highlight movie, and I want to have photographs, music and audio clips from radio commentators. Is there a way to mix multiple audio tracks within Movie Maker? I guess I could always mix the audio tracks together within Sound Recorder, but it would be difficult to get the audio clips to sinc up with the images.     - Text Problem I'm having alittle problem putting text on my videos. Everytime I type something on either...     - MM2 not creating video I am using a Sony DCR-TRV 250, importing into MM2 through Firewire. The system recognizes the camcorder - though when I tell it to begin capturing from the device, I go through every normal screen, then click "Start" - and it acts like it is starting, but the video capture timer doesn't start up and the video size indicator stays at 3K.     - Oversize FAT source files I think I overdid it... I managed to capture a 4+ gig source file (35 mins on DV-AVI setting) onto my old second HDD which is FAT. I keep meaning to upgrade it to NTFS...one day. The clips arrived OK in my Collections, and will load in the preview window, but both video and audio are badly scrambled when played. Does this sound like a symptom of an oversize FAT file, or do I have some other problem? How exciting, my first problem of any significance in a year of using MM!!     - Wild Tangent Web Driver Does anyone knows how to get rid of this? When I shut down the PC, first the Norton box comes up as if it was frozen and I have to click end now, then after I hit end now on that window I get the Wild Tangent Web Driver message to close out.     - Hardware acceleration & DirectX 9 PapaJohn very helpfully describes on his site how it can help to reduce hardware acceleration to notch 3. This adjustment did seem to help, particularly when editing a large project. At the end of this explanation I think he says that if DirectX 9 is in use, this tweaking of the acceleration is not necessary, but I'm not quite clear on that. I have recently downloaded v9 (by the way it's a biggie, took most of the night on my 56k connection) so I'd like to check if there is still any need to juggle the acceleration, or does v9 contain bits that render this no longer necessary?     - CD won't playback in other computers I just started using Movie Maker. I am trying to create a CD with titles, pictures and audio in the background. I save to a recordable CD and it gives me a WMV file. The CD plays fine on the computer where I created this project with media player (version 9). However, when I play the CD on my laptop or other computer, media player recognizes the file, there a one quick error message about downloading and then it plays the file with no audio or video. These other computers have media player versions 7 and 8. In the About Help my movie maker shows version 5.1 and also version 2.0.3312.0. I checked out Papa John's site but could not find answer to my problem. The site mentions saving to DV-AVI format but when I try to save I do not see any format options. The file defaults to WMV.     - video problem Hi, I am using a Dell dimension 4550, NTFS HD 30 GB, Windows XP Home, CPU 1.8 GHz, 128 MB RAM, NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A, WMM2 and WMP9. Due to the insufficient RAM of my computer I have to disable some services of "Windows Services" while editing movies in WMM2 and do some changes (increasing) in the page file. I have transfered some videos from my Sony TRV- 19 through firewire to my computer in DV-AVI, have made movies using WMM2 and saved them to a CD with no problem in the past month. Usually I make sure that I have the following services to edit movies with WMM2 and for a possible need for troubleshooting while editing : 1- Windows Audio 2- Logical Disk Management administrative Sevice 3- Logical Disk Management 4- IMAPI CD-Burning Com Service 5- Workstation 6- Removable Storage 7- Plug and play 8- Remote Procedure CAll (RPC) Locator 9- Remote Procedure CAll (RPC) 10-System Restore 11-Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) 12-Windows Management Instrumentation I converted some movies (.dat files) to MPEG using "VCD Gear 3.5" and imported them to WMM2 to edit. WMM2 and WMP9 play the MPEG movies with no problem ( I have the codecs and etc.). I have got two problems: 1- After I save the final movie that I make with WMM2 to a CD either there is no video at all or there is some but not all that i have made with WMM2, in WMP9 window. I have the audio for the movie even for that part that I don't have the video. so I hope somebody can help me to solve this problem. 2- During the editing of the movie I clicked on one of the clips in the storyboard in WMM2 and tried to play it but for a long time it did not play so I decided to close the WMM2 using X on it's window and all of a sudden I got a message saying that due to a serious problem windows has been shot down to prevent any damage to your system and so forth (i have got the same message two more times in the past). At the bottom of the page It was dumping the physical memory. Now I have got a file named "dumprep" in my MSCONFIG. I know that it is the reporting tool to microsoft but I don't want to use it so I tried to remove it from MSCONFIG (startup programs)using regedit and deleting it from the RUN folder and msconfig folder in regedit, but it is still there and I would appreciate any comments on removing it. so sorry that my message is a long one. thanks for your help in advance. cheers Tag: sound problrm Tag: 12857

    - How to reverse / play back clips backwards? Am I, or in fact my kids being a bit dense - is there a way to play clips in reverse - so, for example, import a clip of me jumping into the swimming pool, and then play it forward as a clip, and then play it backwards so in effect, I come back out of the water on to the side of the pool.     - Movie won't display using InFocus Projector I created a movie with Movie Maker 2 and saved the movie to my hard disk. If I play the movie with Windows Media Player it is just fine on the display.     - I get really poor quality results grainy and no audio Greetings to all, I have a great little JVC DVL-100 MiniDV camera and have downloaded my tapes to Windows movie maker 2 successfully. The edited version of the movie outputs to the camera (After 6 hours of rendering) but the camera records no audio and the quality is horrible. I have cleaned the heads on the camera ...made sure that the volume was working from recording other things....and the correct cable is tight and right. I had Pinnicle studio 8 installed and it was lousy too. I have a 1.25 ghz processor...an evga 5600xt video card and the new sonic blaster audio card.     - Linking Sony PC100E to my PC Total novice taking first steps with Windows Movie Maker ..... and with PC100E Sony Sony make whatosever no mention of linking Camera to a PC in the instructions, only to a TV, things have obviously moved on since we bought the camera in 2001 .... Am I right in thinking that I need an S-Video cable, same both ends is it were ? There's an S-Video (4 round-pins, plus one oblong, yes ?) socket on the camera, and a similar one on what I take to be the Video Card, since the exit for the screen comes off just next door.     - Follow up on Metallic Audio Its taken ALOT of time, but I think I have figured out what the problem is. It seems that my DV codec is outputting the audio at 48khz instead of 44.1. I don't think windows Movie Maker supports 48khz audio, and thus I get this bad quality. I ripped a track from a cd at 48khz, and it would play fine in Winamp, but in MovieMaker, the file gets that metallic quality about it, even before the movie is produced. It remains the same when outputting the movie file. I believe that this occurs when a file is converted between sample rates, wether it be 44.1 to 48 or 48 to 44.1. There is no setting under System>Device Man>Sound Video Controllers>Video Codecs>DV soft that lets me change the audio quality. How can I fix the problem knowing this new information? ~~~~~~The original post is below. Well I tried to change the audio to an mp3 with a bitrate of 320 encoded from a wav with 1141. Then I tried to use the wav-file as the audio source. Both times, the audio came out the same buzzy metallic sound. Is there something elso I can do?     - Now MM1 doesn't work either!!! New XP Pro install. I know that MM1 was working at some point as I used it to test video capture from my Radeon VIVO after updating it's drivers as part of the install. I then went on to install/update other drivers etc. for additional hardware, including both my Creative Webcam and my Fuji digital camera (that can be either a drive or webcam). After all the dust settled, got all the "critical ..." etc., I then upgraded to MM2. MM2 hangs at trying to capture a video, never displaying the video source dialog box. Thankfully hitting the "Close" (big red X button) allows me to terminate it. Given the above, I followed prior instructions in another thread and expanded back out MM1. MM1 also now hangs! Even worse, refuses to terminate. It's at least a log off and appears a system reboot may even be required to completely purge whatever muck-around it's caused. (when are we going to get that OS they keep talking about that's supposed to NOT, I repeat NOT, allow this to happen ... argh!!!) It appears to be some problem simply getting the attached video input devices selection dialog box to appear. Enumeration problem? I do know, no other software appears to be having this problem. I can select from any of the input sources in MSMessenger and a number of 3rd party apps includng even a little program I wrote myself a few years ago. Who knows, who cares? All I know is that I've got something similar to useless garbage laying around on my system that's absolutely worthless and there seems to be little I can do about it. It wears thin real fast when beta software gets included and advertised as one of the big plus's in a product.     - avi on movie maker 2 When I had mm1 my files came out with big AVI extensions and I could convert to mpeg2 and burn them on SVCD. Now I have mm2 and my files come out with little avi extensions, and I cant convert them to mpeg1 or mpeg 2. My camcorder is a mini DV device and captures video through IEEE controller.     - Movie Record Time All I want to do is transfer my 8MM tapes to DVD's. I am converting my Analog Tapes through a digital coverter box and the picture shows up on the screen. However, the record stops after a couple minutes, and I would like to record the whole 60 minutes to the harddrive and then copy that to the DVD recorder. Any ideas?     - MM2 quits at end of loading mswmm Hopefully someone can help with this: When I want to re-open the project I am working on, MM2 loads much or the whole of the file, but before opening it, I get a pop-up saying: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe abnormal program termination OK" After pressing OK, MM2 quits. I tried to open an older project I still have, one which refers to pics and vids no longer there, and that file opens faultlessly. I also went on PapaJohn's excellent site, and following suggestions there, I increased the page file size, I cut down hardware acceleration to level 3, and I renamed all .ax files I found listed on the site. Unfortunately, nothing of that helped. Admittedly, this time my project is much larger than previous projects have been. It includes some 275 jpeg's and about 150 avi's.     - VCR to DV Camera to WMM problems I'm trying to capture video from a VCR. When I play the VCR tape through my Sony TRV 22 I can see it in WMM, but when I click "Capture" the DV tape in the Sony starts to play and all I do is capture off the DV tape. Why mm2 cant play sounds that came with clips properly. When I drag clips to screenplay sounds became "too fast". Original clips are in canon's avi-format.

Hi there,

What software did you use to capture from your Canon? If you used software that
gives the ability to select the first frame as A or B or if you prefer Odd or
Even and you had it set to Auto or Even, then your audio will play in Movie
Maker at roughly double the normal frequency. Quality will also be an issue if
you try to save DV-AVI via a USB cable...it has to be a Firewire into a good
card

For me MM2 is the best at capturing from my own Canon camera...several other
packages I have mess the capture up one way or another.
