    - External Hard Drive for WMM? I read a lot about having an USB 2.0 hard drive that you can store you projects on. I Understand how this can be effective in saving and what not. What I dont understand is say the External Drive is Drive G: and My main hard drive (that WMM is on is C:) Even though WMM is looking at Drive G: when you load the project doesnt it still have to USE C: because WMM is on that drive. ANd thus still have to share space and be slow ETC? Or am I missing something that by saving your project on the G: Drive that WMM only looks there and becomes more efficient.     - "Windows Movie Maker has stoped working" i was trying to make a video for a school project, i had one video clip i used in movie maker which is in AVI (I got vista home premium by the way) there were parts of the video i needed playing normal & some playing in reverse so i ran a program that a reversed copy has been made (so theres 2 videos ). after trimming most of both videos, there is only about 10 seconds of each on the time line. I wanted to mute both videos so on the time line section i clicked on the plus box next to the word video (on the left) 2 new rows appear which are transition & audio, a second after clicking the plus box, a message comes up saying it has stopped working , & an option to close comes up.     - Cannot Save To My Computer TOk, so I have made a video that is 10 min, 50 seconds long, and im trying to figure out why it won't let me save my video to ANYTHING. I want to save to my computer, it wont let me do that so ive tried everything besides saving to a disk. This is the steps i have taken, tell me if im wrong. 1. Save to My Computer 2. We have the correct cable. We can link with and control the camera.     - Burning WMM movie to a disc I have recently made an extremely LONG project in WMM, the movie consists of about 6 possibly 7 hours of video files (in AVI format), some opening and closing credits, some photos and some music. As yet, I have not finalised the project into a Movie (as I know it will take a very long time to do) but once it finally is a movie, I would like to be able to burn the movie to disc without having to fit it on several discs (if that is at all possible!?). Or should I save it to my computer first as opposed to saving it straight to disc? I know definitely 7 hours of video in AVI format would easily take up more than 1 disc, but I just don't want to have about 4 discs of 1 movie (as the video footage is of a 4 day event, so don't really don't want it spread over more than 3 discs). Is there an option in WMM to finalise the movie to another format (like MPEG-2 to use less disks) without losing too much of the video quality?     - re-imported tape, now clips are off I re-imported a tape that had more video added to it. I deleted the original import and named the new import the old tape's name. I was assuming that since WMM will only import from the beginning of the tape that all the old clips should sync to the new import. Apparently they do not. They are off by two minutes for some reason. The project that has the old clips (when it is opened) has the correct picture of the original clip for about 10 seconds and then it is replaced with picture of the wrong clip. Why are my clips' times off if it is the same tape from the beginning? How is WMM seeing the correct clip preview for the fist few seconds of the project opening? I have two videos, each of 1 minute in length, and I want to produce an out video that is 1 minute long. One of the videos will be full frame, the other will be shown in parallel in the smaller PIP window.     - Adding background music to my project Hi all, I need to make an instructional WMV video to show how to use a certain aspect of Windows. I used Media Encoder 9 to screen capture the procedure. I then edited the video in MM2.1 until all the "bloopers" were eliminated. After that I added audio by narrating the steps that the user must follow. I noticed that MM2.1 added the narration to the Audio/Music track. Finally I added a WAV music track to fill in holes at the beginning and end of the screen captured procedure. As a last step I would like to add background music to the narration at a very low volume to avoid being annoying, but I can't figure out how to do it. I used Google, but most of the results detail steps on how to add music or narration to the Audio/Music track, something that I already did, but so far I have not been able to find any info on how to add background music to the narration.     - JVC Editing in MOVIE MAKER I bought a nice JVC Camcorder. It makes .MOD files which have to be converted to MPG MWV or AVI to be edited in WMM. Ive read on here that WMM doesn't "like" or "work very well" with .MOD. What my goal is (and judging from some other online forums) is to convert the .MOD files WITH Windows Movie Maker. I was given a lead last week that Adobe Premeir Elements or ULEAD video Studios. I have several questions. 1). Ive found a product (and the free trial works nicely to convert) called AVS4YOU, Ive been able to convert it (although only to WMV which works in WMM) and the clip adds to my timeline. But just because I could get it on the Timeline and can edit as usual is this THE BEST Solution? 2)When you recommend using ADOBE Premeir Elements or ULEAD are you saying to use one of THOSE products as our FILM editors. My point being we wouldnt be using Windows Movie Maker to edit or projects? Point being, is there a tremendous learning curve for those of us that wont be using WMM for our JVC stuff? Now I am trying to publish it, but everytime I hit publish, the program freezes and re-starts. I know that the problem is the video clip I have.     - Help - PS3 & MM - poor quality Just used PS3 for the first time and find it's great. Here's my problem. I am making an 8 min or so movie for work. I suspect you need to convert the avi file to wmv.
There si no such thng as a simple avi file, as there are over 800 of them.
USe avicodec from this page to find out which yours is, if you don't know,
then use one of the convertors to change it.
