    - clips in collections Hi, In the old movie maker when I imported clips into the collections they showed as thumbnails on the collections screen. Now when I import clips into MM2 each clip is in its own collection folder so I have to click on each folder to see the thumbnail and drag to the timeline. How do I change it back to the old way?     - Problems saving DV-AVI file I am running into some trouble saving a file as a DV-AVI. I imported about 10 minutes of video from my video camera and saved as an AVI. I took one small clip (13 seconds) from about the middle, and Drag to the timeline. I did a save movie and saved to wmv format (best quality for playback on my PC) This took about 3 minutes and generated the desired output. Then I went back to the same project and did a Save As to DV-AVI format. The % complete meter jumped up to 99% and stayed there for about 15-20 minutes, then finally finished (CPU utilization also went to 100% and stayed there -- this seems like a good thing, it means it is working). When I played back the AVI file, it contained the clip I requested (audio and video), PLUS all the clips which came after it in the original file WITHOUT AUDIO. I have successfully created two other DV-AVI projects without this problem. But this was an expiriment to find out what is wrong with my current project. I am having lots of trouble getting all my clips put together into a single video, and did this as a test. I have had to stop WMM and reboot several times over the past day or two, and it seems to me that a temp file or working directory or something as been messed up. I have tried going back to the beginning of the project (delete all avi, wmv, mswmm files and recapture the video again from the source), but this does not help. Every AVI file I create now has basically the same symptoms with the desired video at the beginning, then more video tacked onto the end w/o the audio. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible to remove / re-install WMM? Would that help? Also, why does the % complete jump to 99, then hang out there for such a long time? Thanks so much. Tag: preview blurry Tag: 46331

    - Convert an AVI File to another AVI File If an AVI file doesn't work as a source file in Movie Maker, you often need to convert it to another AVI file that does work.... that's often a confusing point... what codec works? I recently did another wave of tests to check which of the compression codecs made AVI source files that go into the collection, to the timeline, and render OK to a Movie Maker movie...     - Can't play movie - help please! I have a brand new hp computer that included Movie Maker. I composed a movie on Movie Maker with clips and video from my hp digital camera along with a song downloaded from a CD. I burned everything to a CD and tried to play it in my DVD player (which plays other CD's previously composed on Roxio with pictures and video) and it won't play. It says there is no disc in the player. I tried it on another DVD player - still says - NO DISC. So, I burned my movie onto a blank DVD disc and the same thing happens.     - No audio at capture I have a Sony TRV-33E miniDV, when using Sony packaged software for capturing on USB, audio works OK. When using WMM or Roxio for capture, video is OK but no audio. WMM and Roxio play back video and audio from files captured with Sony software OK. Could capture everything with Sony and then use other programs but it's nice for things to work properly with each program. It's as if Sony driver has taken over USB audio in.     - Picture quality terrible - Is it my hardware? Hi, I use a Panasonic DV NV DS65. When I record and playback on the camera or linked up to the TV the picture quality is perfect but when I use Windows Movie Maker to capture the video the quality of the picture is very jerky and pixalated. I use a Compaq Laptop with AMD Athlon 2400 chip with 500+ mb RAM. A salesboy at Camera House said I need a Firewire card. I don't think so. A salesman at Dick Smith Electronics said I need a better program than Movie Maker. I'm not confident these gys know what they're talking about.     - Can save movie only in certain format problem. I am simply making a movie consisting of music (.wmv format) and words (which i use the "titles and credits" provided by WMM). But i cant save the movie in some formats i prefer. I can only save the movie in avi (pal) format which is over 500MB! and some pocket pc format which is too small! After creating the projects and editing the movies, WMM will only allow me to burn 60minutes of video to a standard 4.7GB DVD. When I save the movie to my computer (or any other device with the exception of a DV camera, because I don't have one) there is always an error.     - WMM not responding I just discovered WMM two days ago, and I've been working with it and found it to be just great. However, today it's been a pain in the neck (and in some other places, too): When importing a video it won't automatically create clips, so I have to make them myself. I can live with that, though. What is really a problem is that it keeps on getting stuck and not responding. So I have to shut it down using the classical ctrl+alt+del. Yesterday and the day before it worked just fine.     - Music not jumping with timeline slider Im making a movie with both audio and vidoe clips but whenever i move the slider along the timeline, while it is paused, it replays the whole audio clip when I press play to continue it. So I can click ahead on the timeline to move ahead,say, 5 10 seconds, and the video will move on but the music wont. So every time I want to check the syncronization of the video and music I have to listen to the whole piece. i have been using windows movie maker...pictures on my computer are
clear...when i put them in movie maker and preview them they are blurry....i
know there is feature of editing that can make them blurry but i did not
select this....i have even tried selecting other editing features to make
sure....dont know what to do?????

the preview of the project is set to a low quality rough draft mode of
320x240, 15 fps.... but the final quality of the saved movie will be set by
your choice when rendering it.
