hello, is it possible to edit a dvd recorded from tv? i have been recording
various programmes on my dvd recorder and now wish to edit them but I can't
work out how!!! (the files on the disc when i look at the drive are Video_RM
& Video_TS): any help will be appreciated.

Roughly speaking, what I have done is:

-open the DVD files on my computer DVDRW drive
- find the files with the extension .vob - copy those files to a location on
your hard drive
- convert those files to .wmv; I use Windows Media Encoder (WMM does not
handle .vob files correctly)
- import the .wmv files to Windows Movie Maker
- do your editing

Others use different schemes for the conversions; some use a converter
called VirtualDub for MPEG files; that works and produces .avi files which
will import into WMM.
