my preveiw screen shows black & white , with some coloured pixels, and when i
play the captured video it shows an 80% blue screen (on the bottom) and the
other 20% black & white video, have i damaged something in the camera?
when i first transfersd the video it worked fine except for the sound,I then
pluged the audio in, and something went wrong , audio and video are
transfered but video has a problem .Using a JVC DV , s/video and audio input.
through a winfast TV 2000 xp deluxe card.
would appreciate any help
PS .first time user,

If you cam is a mini dv model then either use firewire connection and movie
maker or you'll need to use the software that came with the cam and the
analogue inputs. Movie Maker rarely works with analogue as you have found.
Firewire will give far better quality as well.

Graham thanks for the reply.I dont have a fire wire connection on my PC , so
i kept playing with it and found by accident that if i changed the capture
format profile using the winfast controller to Mpeg 1 optimal instead of Mpeg
1 normal, hey presto it now works a treat.I will hovever get a DV to USB cable
and try that to,cheers

dv to usb cables are utter crap, don't bother getting one, firewire cards
are very very cheap these days and fitting one in a spare pci slot is very
very easy.
