Importing MPEG - No Picture !
When I import a mpeg movie file and then drag it to the
time line, it appears on the 'Audio/Music' line only i.e.
there is nothing on the Video timeline. However if I
play it in Windows Media Player, everything (sound and
picture) is there.
Anyone know what the problem might be?
Also if I click on the imported file in the 'Collections'
window, a separate ActiveMovie Window opens and I can see
the picture in it. Tag: playing back movies/bad quality Tag: 9953

Audio becomes distorted and "tin sounding" when clip is
put into the show storyline. The audio is normal when

Saving in .avi format
I don't know what I am missing but my sister and I want to create a moivie using audio and digital pictues. Is there a way to save as .avi so it can play on a dvd player to show family via the TV. MM2 DVD menu system - is there such a thing?
Hi all,
I like the ease of use that MM2 provides, but the title system leaves a bit
to be desired.
Is there such a thing as a DVD menu system plug-in for MM2? It would be
nice to be able to click to different chapters on the disc.
Thanks for any info or answers.

Sound
I captured video to Window Movie Maker 2 and edited it, seemed OK. Then I
saved it as .wmv format. Again MyDVD Preview Mode all was OK, so I burnt it
onto a +DVD. However, on the finished DVD there is a specific sound sync
problem. It is OK for most of the project until you come to a title without
audio inserted into the "storyline". After the title, the video continues,
but the sound does not restart until 6 seconds into the video. For the rest
of the film the sound-track remains the same exact 6 seconds behind the
video.
This is only on the finished DVD. I have tried re-burning, but exactly the
same problem. Any ideas please? Thanks, Peter. Tag: playing back movies/bad quality Tag: 9937

can capture video but not audio
Hi. I'm using Movie Maker 2 and trying to capture video

I choose as Audio Device the Pinnacle Linx device, the

I have two tying demos on my Web site. Some of my users can only hear the audio and can't view the video.
I'm not sure how to solve this problem.
If any of you have time, can you go to the following Web site: http://www.3Senoritas.com and let me know if you can see the video. It seems pointless to keep the tying demos there if no one can see them!

Which versions of Windows Media Player Can Play these files?
I've been experimenting with Windows Movie Maker and love
the end result. It was so easy to learn!
However, I'm having problems playing the movie file that
is created. It plays fine on my Windows XP machine at
the office, but when I try to play the file using the
Windows Media Player on the computers at home (one
Windows 2000, the other Windows XP), I get only audio,
and a black screen for video.
Does Windows Media Player create a new type of file that
only later versions of Windows Media Player can handle?
I'm wondering if I need to download and install a newer
version of Windows Media Player on these machines. Has
anyone else seen this?
Thanks,

De-Letterbox when converting?
I use WMM2 to make small movies to watch on the Pocket PC. I use the largest
set profile for PPC, 320x240 at 218 kbps, to convert MPEG movies to watch on
the PPC.
320x240 is not letterbox, however if the original movie is in letterbox
wide-screen format, the resulting picture is also in that format, with an
empty black stripe above and below the picture.
I don't mind watching letterbox on the television. The empty black stripes
don't bother me. However, on the PPC, the screen is so small, I would like
to have the picture fill the screen, and not have those black stripes above
and below the picture.
Is it possible during the encoding to WMV, to change the aspect ratio (no
cropping) so that the resulting video fills the 320x240 screen? Tag: playing back movies/bad quality Tag: 9887

"Save Movie File" failed
Using MovieMaker v2.0.3312.0 with Win XP Prof.
I've used this program before on other systems but
something appears to be corrupt because I am unable to
save any size movie (even just a few second
introduction). I've tried various quality levels and
verified disk space (have over 120 GIG free space on
drive), drive is formatted for NTFS. No matter what
option I choose I get the message "Cannot Complete the
Save Movie Wizard - Your movie was not saved
successfully." Additional infomation displayed is "WMM
cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify
that the orig. source files used in your movie are still
available, that the saving location is still available,
and that there is enough free disk space available, and
then try again." I have verified everything, including
admin rights (I am the admin.), free disk space, source
files (even created a new movie with only a MM title
created). I check the DLL files and reinstalled MM from
Microsoft's website. I get the same message no matter
what method I choose to save. I'm at a total loss now.
Any advice or is there a log file created with each step
within the wizard that may give me better details where
the program is failing. Please help! Thank you. Tag: playing back movies/bad quality Tag: 9879

Help on dvd's
Good day !!
I have edited a wedding video (WMM2) and I have already saved the completed
avi files in the PAL format . ( I live in Johannesburg, South Africa and we
use the PAL system here) . I have also saved some mpeg2 files (also made
using PAL format ) using auto muvee.
The problem is that 3 out of the 5 DVD's which I'm producing are going to be
sent to the USA. The dvds which I am using are DVD+R discs.
Using SONIC MY DVD to write to the dvds ,,, I have had no problems making
the standard PAL dvds.
Now it seems that I have to re-save all the files ( about 6 different
movies ) in the NTSC format,, and then use SONIC MY DVD to write them. This
is going to be a lot of extra work.
Is there any way that these discs (PAL) will play in any of your DVD players
over there in the States ..??
Second question .
I have been using a DVD+RW hp disc to record some other projects. My SONIC
DVD ,, erases the disc first as required ,, and the disc works fine on the
computer. However when playing it in my DVD player ,,, it says NO DISC ,,,
and therefore doesn't play.
I await your expert help ...

Can't import AVI
Hello,
For some reason, I can't import any AVI in WMM2.
Capturing works well (I can open the AVI file in media
player that is written to my hard disk) but Movie Maker
hangs when trying to import it. So, I guess this isn't a
codec problem.
By the way, importing WMV-files works fine though.
Another weird thing is that the preview windows remains
empty when I am running the video from the timeline,
while previewing from the collection works fine.
Can anyone help me, please?

Timecode prevents scene detection
I captured a Hi-8 analog video by using the analog pass-
through in a digital camcorder, creating an AVI file.
Moviemaker imports the file but it will not automatically
detect the scene changes. I'm pretty sure that the reason
is that there are no breaks in the DV-generated
timecodes. If the timecodes were not present, I think
that MM would use the scene changes to create separate
clips.
Question: How can I get MM to ignore the timecode and use
scene changes to generate clips? Or, how can I strip the
timecode from the AVI file?

Also, the only way I can get the clips from the Handycam
