    - Hang upon Running WMM 2.1 When I open WMM 2.1, as soon as I click on something, the program hangs. It has been this way since I had to replace my hard drive. I have been to PapaJohn's WMM site and nothing posted there seemed to help. So I have come to believe that it is NOT a codec issue (at least not one of the 20 listed on PapaJohn's site) The only way I am able to get WMM 2.1 to run is to first remove the MEDIATAB*.DAT file in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Movie Maker. But this is absurd because the MEDIATAB*.DAT file contains all the data on the clips I had in the Collections folders, so upon removing this file, I have no clips to use and have to re-import them. But it is no guarantee that the program will not hang when I go to edit the clips. Even so, the next time I go to run WMM, it hangs, and I must once again remove the MEDIATAB*.DAT file if I wish to use the program. Is there anyone who can think of a permanent solution that allows me to keep the clips in the Collections folders? Because it defeats the purpose of getting the program to run if I have to remove the clips. It's like trading in the cart for a horse to pull it. Tag: WMM only saves part of the movie! Tag: 47618

    - Problem capturing audio in Windows MovieMaker When I try to capture a video I can only get the video only and no audio. I have a vcr hooked up to a Dazzle DVC (Digital Video Creator) 90 video capture card and have the proper connections (video in going from vcr to Video In on capture card and both audio inputs right and left) and just can't get any sound. I also have Studio 9 QuickStart software from Pinnacle Systems in which I can hear the sound and see the video together.     - Error Message when selecting Capture from video device I bought a Dazzle DVC 80 and installed on my PC running XP. I was able to capture the video but no sound. I tried all different types of connections and input sources with the exception of MICROPHONE. I highlight microphone because I noticed someone else had the same problem that I originally had and Microphone was the Input option I needed. Well I seemed to have answered my first problem but I have a bigger problem. While I was trying to figure out how to get sound. I noticed that in the "audio device" dropdown it had my sound card listed. I also noticed that in the drop down was the video capture device "DVC 80 16k Audio(2). So I selected that...That did not work either. Now when I start up Movie Maker and hit "capture from video device" I get an error message stating "No such interface supported". I'm pretty sure its from me changing the audio device from my soundcard to the capture device. Unfortunetaly I can't switch it back because everytime the error message comes up I have to hit "ok" and it closes down where you can change the audio options.     - Error Message PLEASE HELP IF POSSIBLE I haven't used WMM in sometime. I used it about 4 months ago and it was working fine. Now I'm trying to start a new project. I uploaded video and audio, but then whenever I drag it into the timeline, a error message pops up.     - Colors are all messed up Ever since I updated my WMM to version 2.1 colors on any windows media or mpeg that I watch are all messed up. They are very bright and runny, hard to see what is going on. Any .mov file looks just fine.     - Movie is pixelated I have three Photo Story 3 movie clips at 640 x 480 that I'm combining into a WMM2 movie using WMM2 titles and transitions. The Photo Story WMV files look great, but the resulting WMM2 WMV (640 x480) file is very noticably pixelated and jerky. The file size is 2.7MB. If I the output movie is saved as High Quality (small) the defects are gone, but the file size is 10MB.     - video capture device not detected I am using a Sony digital camcorder and when I try to capture video using a USB cable, I get the following message: A video capture device was not detected. Verify that a device is turned on and connected properly, and then try again. When using a firewire cable, the camera is found right away.     - AVI files has anybody had the problem of the AVI files created by Movie Maker 2 not being recognised by DVD burning software.     - Finishing and saving to CDROM -- problem w/ virtual memory I have a slideshow on Movie Maker that I need to finish and save to CD. I have a new, blank CD w/ plenty of space -- per the program the slideshow should take about 34 MB of space and the CD has approx. 700. Every time I try to save it, I get an error message on my that my virtual memory is too low and that Windows is going to increase it. Then the Movie Maker wizard tells me it can't save the program (this occurs if I try to save it to the computer as well). The virtual memroy is set to be system-managed (not custom). Help! I have created a reflection that I would like to share with my mailing list and found PapaJohn's advice on the setting email size invaluable. It is no longer the size of a stamp, but it does take a while to load... I have two questions: Is there a way that I can send the movie to people's inboxes without it taking a huge amount of time to load and still look great. 2. Different Players I've been working on a custom sized video inset for the main page of my website... replacing a thick horizontal black line with a custom video sized at 800x24 pixels... I started down the path of making it a movie... but then thought a story would be smaller and open quicker... my rule of thumb being that story files are only 10% the size of movies. This exercise is giving me some things to think about, and I'd appreciate any of your comments.... Here are 4 files... a Photo Story 3 file that is the smallest file size I can make it without taking too much of a quality hit, and then 3 movies made in MM2 from a high quality story (580K file size for a 7 second story). The WMV V7 and V8 movie files look good on my Windows 98 and XP computers, but don't play on my Vista system. On Vista they download and sit there as a big black bar. The WMV V9 movie file plays on all of my systems, including Vista.... but the quality took such a nosedive that it's not suitable for use. At the moment, the website page is using the WMV-V8 movie file... I'm taking the hit with Vista and hoping it'll work on other systems. About viewing these files in players.... the PS3 story shows correctly proportioned in WMP10 and in Vista's WMP11.... the movies play distorted to standard 4:3 aspect ratio in WMP10 in XP, and look fine in WMP11 in Vista.     - Exported movie is not interlaced Hello, I have just spent about 4 hours creating a movie with Windows Movie Maker, and overall I am very impressed. But now when I come to save the movie the resultant file is not interlaced any more. This occurs either exporting to DV-AVI or to WMV. I want to create a DVD to watch on a TV so I need interlaced output. Am I doing something wrong or it this a limitation of the program? My steps are easily reproduced 1) View imported DV-AVI file in a DirectShow application such as ZoomPlayer using FFDShow codec. Interlaced frames are visible 2) Generate simple Movie with WMM (one scene) and export to DV-AVI. 3) View exported file with same application. Interlaced frames have been blended.     - Can I use my camcorder's USB port to save my 48 minute movie? I'm trying to save my 48 minute movie to my Panasonic DV camcorder via the USB port on the camera. I have two problems: 1. Movie maker tells me that I don't have enough memory on the temporary storage device C: to save the movie. I have nearly 8 GB of free space on the C: drive. 2.     - audio out of synck with video Oh man, i just pray that someone can help me with this! I download from my Dv camera in Dv-Avi format, everything is fine, but when i go save it as a movie file and play it back (aprox 1 hr. long), the audio and video are about 2-3 seconds out of synck. It seems a lower resolution helps the synckronization problem a bit better, but i loose alot of my origanal quality, even with (high quality video/ hq NTFS) These programs are supposed to be goin on cable tv and I'm been messing with them for almost a year now.     - what media should I use.... I am trying to create a movie of my son who has just turned 1. I have a sony DVD player which accepts all DVD burned formats. The problem I am getting, is that I cannot seem to find a DVD to burn to. I have tried both DVD+R as well as DVD-RW. Neither seem to be working correctly. The sony player I have in my home works with DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+R DL, DVD-R. On my computer's drive I have 3 icons which read "compact disc rewritable high speed", "RW DVD+Rewritable", "DVD R/RW". So far I am frustrated. I have used CD_R's as well, and even though it says it has burned to the disc, I cannot play it in my DVD player. What can I do? The main reason I bought this software was so that I could transfer my digital video into a format I could play in personal home DVD players. Someone please help me. I have burned audio cds in the past, and am familiar with being sure I haven't over used disc space, and I have created the video easily with little trouble.     - Movie Maker on a network.... I work at a school that has a LAN classroom. One of our teachers was working on a project for his class, a video montage of each student, each with narrations and back ground music, etc. He quickly became addicted to movie maker and soon had over a thousand source files, I'm not kidding, over a thousand. From those, he created close to 70 1-1:30 minute video clips - all to be spliced together into two videos. The total of the files before converting to mpeg2 was over 18GB. From the start of the project, we created and saved all projects on the main server's drives, accessing the projects from one of the teachers computers. Well, as you can imagine, doing all the rendering on one computer would have taken forever. So we figured that if we could run the projects of the teacher's computer from a network drive, we could do the same with the students computers. At any given time in the final days of the project, we were rendering up to six different video clips on six different computers accessing source files one network drive. To save network bandwidth, we rendered from the server to the desktop of the host, then when the rendering was complete for the day, we moved the finished .avi files back to the server. Originally we thought that it would be impossible because of all the trouble we'd read about moving projects from computer to computer but we had no problem. generally). The movie plays fine in WMM itself but when I try to save it as
an actual movie to my computer or to a CD it won't save the entire thing. I
have plenty of hard drive space and I've tried it on a PC that has 512MG RAM
AND 1GB RAM and the same thing happened. It says it saves okay but then when
I play it in Media Player partway in the pictures stop rotating and the
screen goes black and a couple minutes later the audio stops as well. Any
ideas?

I am having the same problem. I would love to find out the answer so I can
fix the problem before Thursday when I need to play the graduation slide
show. Can anyone help me PLEASE?
