Have completed 30 min MM2 video back to tape with camera audio on audio line and narration on audio/music line OK. But when I try to add music background to narration on audio/music line it won't let me. I have tryed both ways that Microsoft white papers have said would work. 1)Place musc at end of narration on audio/ music line and drag music over narration, 2)Drag music from collections and place over narration on Audio/Music line. Neither seem to work.1) When trying to drag music from end of narration line it refuses to drag over the narration. It stops when it meets the end of the narration. 2) When draging from collections and dropping on narration, the narration disapears and all I have left is music.
Thanks for any help

Before adding the music, save the movie as a dv-avi file. Start a new
project, import this avi file and then add the music where you want as the
audio track will be free again.

Thanks Graham. I did as you suggested. The imported avi file had the narration track missing and the video audio was still on the audio timeline. I must have done something wrong.
The Microsoft Windows White Paper entitled "Add Narration and Music to your Slideshows with Windows Movie Maaker 2 forWindows XP, dated Jan. 7 2003 indicates that the narration and music background can both be on the Audio/music track. Does this does not apply to vidio clips that have audio on the audio track?
Look foward to your reply.

They both CAN coexist on that same audio track---just not playing at the same
time. When your narration fades out, you can fade in the music, etc. Pretty
limiting, and they had better fix it for MM3!!! Enough to nearly force you
to Imovie on the Mac.

Thanks Graham for the tip. I have spent hours trying to figure a way of
adding narration to just a few of about 100 stills in a short movie I made
while keeping the background music continuing to run. I tried your trick and
it worked. Now all I have to do is find out how to adjust the relative
volumes of the two in the final product. Many thanks.

You need to adjust the backfround music iof overlayed first before saving to
dv-avi, there should be a volume slider for you to make the changes.
