I have a JVC GR-D33U mini dv camcorder and an E-Machine T3085. I am running
XP home with service pack 2 and all current updates are loaded from
Microsoft. I am tring to download a movie from my camcorder and Moviemaker 2
is not downloading the movie. The software recognizes the camcorder because I
can control the camcorder with the software. I get nothing in the preview
window of the software and when I try to save it after the tape has finished
running it tells me there was an error and the movie did not upload properly,
check the configuration of the camcorder or the software. I cannot find any
help online for this.
Any ideas?????

Hello,

Does it recognize the exact make and model of your camcorder or does it give
you a generic recorder?

Okay, this is the same issue I had when I first started playing with Movie
maker.
I tried RCA cables and I also USB but both did not work.
I had to connect my camcorder to my PC using the firewire interface for it
to work.

What type of cable are you using, USB... USB2 perhaps?

I am using firewire and still had the problem. I found another post that made
reference to firewire running slower after upgrading to service pack 2. It
gave me a fix from Microsoft. I ran the patch and the problem was solved.
Thanks for your help.
