movie maker keeps freezing

Hello, I have had windows movie maker 2 for a while now
and from when I first got it i have always had problems
with it freezing. I am not using many effects or
transitions and what i have edited is just over 1 minute
long. I am not even able to drag a 5 second clip down to
the timeline as this will make it freeze. I have 64% of
my computers memory free so i am sure it is not a memory
problem and also defragment it often. Would someone be
able to tell me what might be the cause of this problem
and how i can stop it from happening?
