    - Capturing video from VCR When I tried to capture video from the vcr I could see the preview of the movie in the preview pane and I would hit capture for a 15 second or so and then stop it and let it import into movie make to see if it was working. I could only see a gree screen with a funny line at the top and when I hit play to see the clip I would see a green scree with a moving squiggly band of color at the top. I assume that was the video. What is the problem? I have checked the driver and it is the most current one for the program. Hello, I thought you might like to know this little snippet in particular if you live in the UK and are pondering on the cost of a new hard drive This may not be the very best deal but for £79.95 with a three year warranty it has to be worth a look. This morning we parked our car outside a store we have been in perhaps only twice in the last 15yrs or so. Its known for selling very cheap merchandise and those of you in England at least will know its name Aldi. I was waiting for the wife to come out of the hairdressers and to kill time went in and had a look.....I came out with 2 Western Digital Cavier 7,200RPM 250GB hard drives at £79.95. I'm formatting the first right now. The price compared to PC World is roughly half...they have an 8.9 m/s seek time, an EIDE Mode 5 data transfer rate and a 2MB internal memory...the memory size is now old hat...the very latest have 8MB.     - First Movie I imported an old home movie from VHS tape. After editing, it is 1 hr. 16 min. long. Some of the video has jerky motion. What caused this? I saved it to my hard disk in DV-AVI.     - Where in "pc land" is my camcorder? Hello all- I have been reading board trying to fix problem without having to post but I'm finally giving in. I have recently built new pc running XP pro sp2 and have bought new panasonic dv-gs15 and I am trying to capture video from it with no luck. I'm using a 1394 connection. The card is made by PPA and did not come with or offer any drivers on website. No problem window finds it and installs just fine. First time plug in camcorder windows identifies dv and says device ready for use. Tried using MM2, Ulead6, and Nero6 but all say "no video capture device installed." Cant find under my computer or device manager. EACH time i plug in or unplug camcorder windows make (ding) noise to let know it is attached. I am using power supply not battery and is set on vcr playback. I also disable network connection so windows does not get confused on card function. I've tried the following: -Bought new 4pin to 4pin cable -Exchanged 1394 card for new one -Uninstall card, shutdown, remove card, reboot, replace card new slot, install, etc... -Different video editing softwares -Reinstalled window xp pro -Tape inserted in, tape out of dv -Udated all neccessary drivers, ms updates, and double checked bios settings Any suggestions I havn't tried already please would help?     - Horrible picture quality Made a short test movie using my Sony TRV-260 and transfered it to the computer, using the High Quality setting. Imported the file into WMM to view it and the picture quality is horrible! All blotchy and dark and grainy. I checked the to see if the Sony driver is installed and it is.     - Collection Pane Problem When I drag several video clips into the collections pane only one is displayed. I created two screen shots of the problem and they can be viewed here. http://photos.yahoo.com/cybersent1 The first screen shot mm 1.0.1377.0 is on a PC running ME with Movie Maker version 1.0.1337.0 which works fine. The second screen shot mm 5.1 is on a PC running XP Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600 with Movie Maker version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2) this is the one with the collections pane problem. As you can see the video clips COPYCD, MDLIB, and NUSKIN all show up in the far left collections pane but only one is ever displayed in middle collection pane. This used to work fine just like the ME PC and I suspect one of the countless XP software updates changed something.     - Recording to DVD Ok...Finally! I have made a one hour movie and a two and half hour movie from my master dv tapes using Windows Movie Maker. I saved both movies to the hard drive of my computer as DV-AVI files. Using Nero, I plan on making a DVD that gives people the option of watching either the long or the short version from the menu. However, Nero tells me that the one hour version is over 4 gigs in the "best" quality mode. The only way to record the whole video on a 4 gig dvd is to use the option "automatic". Isn't this giving me a much less quality video? Can I put both the long and the short versions onto a double layer 8.5 gig dvd without losing quality? Is there maybe some compression software to use that wouldn't give up resolution or quality? It seems like I should be able to put 3.5 hours of video onto a double layer disc but I don't know how.     - audio and video track options. i have an audio track that id like to have fade out during a scene, but witht the fade oout option, i can not control when, or how long id like the fade to last. also, when toggling between audio volume from the video, and audio from the narration, the volume is set for the duration of the movie. id like to adjust it according to the timeline. have the volume change from video or auido tracks at my choosing. in the help menu about titles, there is a paragraph about fonts and colours of titles, yet there is no option in movie maker that allows me to change them. and when i have a title as part of the video, i can not change that annoying 'blue' colour, or have it transparent. if any of this is possible, please let me know, or perhaps a good update of movie maker would be appreciated? thanks.
