WMM create fine but can't use on other machines
I have created several videos with windows video maker 2 and tried to send via email to someone. They cannot see the video only the audio comes through. The other machine is running windows xp also. I have tried capturing several different ways and also saving differnet formats. I still cannot read the file from the other machine. I also wrote the file to CD with the same results. The preview on the other machine just shows an icon for WMM but not a picture of the first frame as it should. Can anyone give me a little help. Tag: 2.0 not installing Tag: 10908

Nik vs. Bob vs. WMM2
I'm with Nik on this one. ....
WMM2 is BY FAR the buggiest program I have every used on my computer. I won't bore you with my computer specs. but suffice to say that it MORE than meets the minimum requirements.
I have over a hundred hours in a project I'm working on. It would have been about 40 hrs. if the freakin' program had not crashed a bazillion times. I finally got it completed and now I can't save it. I've tried saving it to my computer and my DV camera with no luck. Once again, the program crashes constantly.
Bob....I'm sure Nik is aware that the .MSMM file is a project file but the project file isn't worth squat if you can't save it. I have tried (as I'm sure Nick did) to import the .MSMM file within another program like Studio so I can bypass this living abortion they call WMM2.
If you can't already tell, I'm pissed. Shame on MS for releasing crap like this. I'm sure some of you have had success with this program but I'd be willing to bet they are short videos with little if any effects. BTW.....I've heard that there may be issues with nVidia video cards? Are you freakin' kidding me? nVidia is the largest producer of video cards. What's up with that?
The bottom line is that WMM2 has taken a project that should have been to make and turned it into a nightmare. Tag: 2.0 not installing Tag: 10894
What am I doing wrong?
I've posted this 3 times, and no one is responding. Please, someone, help me!!
I have tried several permutations to get my vcd's and c-dvd's to play on computers other than the computer that created them. I have MM2 and created a fabulous movie which I saved in dv-avi. Then I used Roxio to record them in the various formats
I now have 10 cds, and none of them can be opened on all computers, just a couple on this computer, and a couple on that computer..
I then tried to capture the video directly into Roxio and burn from there, but again, there are no reliable results. I thought creating the video in Roxio would make it more compatible with Roxio's encoding process, but so far, it doesn't seem to be any better than creating the movie in MM2 and saving as dv-avi & importing it into Roxio. Am I missing a step in Roxio
So far, the best and most universal disc I have been able to do is to create a VCD (via mm2 to roxio) which requires the users to open their windows media player (or quicktime for mac users), and then, from within the player, manually open one of the 5 files which will appear. Then the video opens.
I am using these cd's to promote my business and I am worried that a potential customer will not go to all of the trouble to open these cd's
The only good side to this last cd is that I tried it on 4 computers and the "manual" way worked on all of them
Is there a better way? Should I just include instructions for opening my cd's when I send them

Creating a slideshow on mover maker using digital camera stills
Hi Guy
I'm trying to make a slideshow of my sister-in-laws wedding using stills, crossfade and adding music. Its all going really well apart from the quality. People's faces are sometimes distorted & blurred. However, the original prints taken on a Konica Digital Revio KD310Z are perfect. The size used to take them was 1200x1600. I have added them on to 'collections' by the import method. On saving my movie slideshow, I have tried saving it on low quality, medium, high and email. High is the best but still not brilliant. It even distorts slightly in my movie maker monitor and then distorts worse when I watch it through my windows media player
Can anyone offer any advice, I have searched the help on Windows Movie Maker and on the on-line pages but I can't find an answer
Thank

How to adjust project audio volume?
New MM2 user. Source audio somewhat low. I can adjust the
volume of ONE clip at a time. Is there a way to either
select all of the clips and adjust the audio level on all
at once, or is there a way to adjust the entire project's
audio? It seems counterproductive to have to combine all
the clips to be able to adjust the audio level and then
split them apart to build the project. I guess I could
capture the work as one clip, adjust the audio and save the
project, then capture it again to build many clips. Time
consuming but possible. Is there an easier way?

A quick question
Downloaded WMM2 last night and made a few quick movies with it. What
a great program! Can't wait to spend some quality time with it.
I was wondering however if it is possible to make a Video CD (VCD) out
of the movies that I have made. I usually use Nero burning to do it,
but it doesn't recognize WMVs. Is there another program i should look
at for this? If i use the "burn to CD" function would that make a
VCD?

Thanks for your comment on my problem. Maybe part of my problem is that I made the slideshow in Photo story with lots of zooms and pans, so there actually is lots of movement. Still seems a shame.
I donâ??t currently have a DVD burner, but would that solve my problems of poor quality?
Could I still create the movie from slideshow in photostory and WMM and then burn it straight to a DVD? Do you burn an avi file to a DVD or would I have to convert it to MPEG first? Iâ??m new at this and need help obviously.
I canâ??t stand that I put hours and hours to create this 20 minute movie (which we love), but canâ??t burn it to watch on the DVD player satisfactonily, you know? Thanks for any advice. Ladybu Tag: 2.0 not installing Tag: 10858

Buggy Microsoft code!!!
I looked in here to get some help for (a) problem(s) I'm
having with windows Movie Maker, I can't in any way
convert this stupid ".MSWMM" file format to anything:
Mpeg, Avi, CD, DVD, anything! The WMM save wizard either
crashes my system or asks me to wait 35million minutes
until my file is done. I've got a brand new computer with
a 2.6 gig processor, and a huge hard drive, loaded with
video stuff, it should work fine, but it doesn't. I don't
have 91 years to wait for a slideshow of baby pictures.
But then I see all these requests for help from others
with no response from anyone, let alone microsoft.
One would figure if they continue to flood the market with
these buggy programs, they's have some kind of accessible
tech support, especially for us PAYING CUSTOMERS! They
should have their expert coders regularly check these
newsgroups and forums and offer help to their perplexed
and frustrated customers. Tag: 2.0 not installing Tag: 10834

Crashes when saving to DV-AVI
Papajohn and others
I have a 15 minute slide show created in MM2 complete with titles, transitions, effects and audio. When I go to save it as a DV-AVI file, after saying it is about 12 percent complete (approximately 10 after starting to save) I get an error message saying that the program must close. I have noticed that the time remaining increases all the while the file is being saved (upwards of 30 minutes) instead of decreasing. I have an HP computer with a Pentium 4 and a very large hard drive. Please advise on how I can get past this and what should be the normal time for my computer to save this size file

PapaJohn! I found a fix to some Capture Problems!
I have posted before and read postings by others unable to
capture video from their DV camcorder through their IEEE
1394 port. Well, I finally fixed my problem and I thought
that I would be nice and share with everyone else that had
similar problems to mine:
My System:
Pentium 4
Windows XP Pro
Motherboard (built-in) IEEE 1394
DirectX 9.0b
My Problem:
Windows would recognize my Camcorder (Sony DCR-TRV27) when
plugged in via IEEE 1394, but every time I tried to
capture, I got the error:
"An Unknown Error Has Occurred" (Please check video device
to see that it is not being used by another device ....
etc.)
I WAS able to play, rewind, etc. from the computer
(transport controls), but no video capture.
My Fix:
In desperation, I downloaded the Trial Version of Adobe
Premiere. After installation, Premiere was able to
capture video fine. I went back and tried Movie Maker 2,
and it TOO was able to capture fine at this point.
The Reason?:
I know that Premiere re-installed DirectX 9.0b when I
installed Premiere. My guess is that there was some sort
of driver conflict that was worked out with this
installation. Anyway, I'm a much happier person now that
my firewire connection works with my system. So far, no
missed frames, good audio.
I hope this helps people who have had similar problems.
