    - PapaJohn: please help! Hi, I'm having all kinds of trouble with MovieMaker2. It had been working fine for me for the last few months. The last couple weeks it has been hanging and rebooting my system during movie saves and sometimes during editing. I can't think of anything that has changed on my system that could have caused this other than running Windows update to get the latest security patches. I have tried all the solutions on the papajohn.org site but it didn't seem to solve my problem. I decided to start over and reformatted my hard drive. I then installed Windows XP Home. I downloaded Movie Maker 2 after installing my audio driver and it crashed saving the project. I created several new projects to make sure it wasn't a bad imported video but all the projects had problems. It usually just hangs the computer (mouse can't move, ctrl-alt-del doesn't work, scroll bar not updating). I created projects with no transitions, no effects and no audio. These had the same problems. I removed all the .ax files except for WMVDS32.AX and KSPROXY.AX (I did delete the KSPROXY one but it reappeared). So my machine had no apps on it other than MovieMaker and it still has problems. I just did a Windows Update and got totally up-to-date to see if one of the patches may have fixed this but still having problems. Any ideas on what the problem might be? Does this sound more like a memory or drive problem? I'm thinking of replacing those and seeing if it helps. If not, do you have any other ideas? Thanks, Reece Tag: help calm my nerves!! Tag: 4319

    - ...problems with Movie Maker / "Click to DVD" relationship HELP! Just bought a Sony Vaio equipped with Movie Maker. I made this really neat video. Problem is, Movie Maker seems to have no direct way of burning a DVD. After following the instructions in one of the Movie Maker articles on this web site, I saved the movie as a DV-AVI file to my computer's hard drive.... then opened it into the Sony DVD burning software provided on the computer ("Click to DVD"). Everything seemed to be going swimmingly until I realized the video had NO SOUND! I went ahead and burned a DVD to make sure. Sure enough, the "Click to DVD" title page on my DVD popped up and played the standard click to dvd music, just like on my computer, but when I started to play my video, there was no audio track with it.     - Place to get video clips for movie enhancement? I have the creativity fun packs already, and Plus!, and Plus! Digital Media Edition, but they don't come with much in the way of videos. I'm looking for other video clips to start/end my movies with. Does anyone know of a site, or boxed (cheap) set of these you can purchase? I've been looking all over the net using a variety of search strings and all I'm getting is like theater-movie download hits. You know how you can buy CD's FULL of clip art...I'm looking for something like this but with a bunch of videos. Any help is appreciated.     - AOL Media Player now supporting WM9 in AOL 8.0 AOL now prompts you to download the WM9 video codec when you use the AOL Media Player to open a WMV (Media 9). Before it would just play the audio. Does the MAC version of AOL Media Player now do this?     - processor overload 100procent when capturing ? hello, when i capture my Digital Tape into the recommended format, my processor runs up until 100procent ! I have a 2,66Ghz processor with 256Ram. This should be more then sufficient. I suspect my processor since it's not the first time it consumes too much even though it's video editing.     - Capture quality problem with MM 2.0.3312.0 Hi, I have a video capture quality problem. Here is my configuration: MM release 2.0.3312.0. DirectX 9 Intel P4 2.4ghz pc / XP Home with all the updates. Old Sony analog camcorder "handycam". Dazzle - DVC 80 USB video - external videl in/out device. During video capture (recording), the MM video preview screen frequently freezes for several seconds then resumes synchronized video playback input from the camcorder. The video capture preview screen also occasionally shows a "rolling" screen or shows a lot of distortion and poor quality. So, what I end up with is a full video capture from the camcorder with lots of "frozen" segments - and some segments with lots of distortion and poor quality. 30-40% of the video capture is good. Funny thing, capture of audio from the camcorder works fine - even during the "frozen" video capture segments. Any ideas for correcting this problem? Thanks for any help.     - I WANT TO SAVE MY MOVIE TO DVD. I HAVE A DVD WRITER I have recorded a homemovie of my kids on my canon digital video camera and edited and added music etc using windows movie maker 2. I now want to copy it onto DVD and send it to my family in the UK (I am in New Zealand). When I try to burn it onto my DVD Writer (LG B GOLD 5) my burning software tells me I need a MPEG1 file not a WMV file which my video is in.     - Movie Maker on CD? I just recorded a Windows Movie Maker to my CD Burner. THis movie plays back perfectly on my CD Burner, but this movie will NOT play in my dvd writer on my computer, or my DVD player hooked up to my tv.     - Cannot open capture device I just upgraded to Movie Maker 2. Movie Maker 1.1 worked just fine with my hardware, however, everytime I hit the capture from video device button, I get a message saying the device is in use. I know that it isn't in use - there aren't any applications that can use my video device running at the time. As I said earlier, the previous version worked fine. Has anyone else encountered this?     - Re: Catastrophic Failure Well I checked the gif file and the dimensions are 639x476, it contains about 300 frames, and it's about 90 seconds long. It doesn't seem like its that big, but I guess I don't know all of the technical constraints of Movie Maker.     - saving MM2 project to CD I am unable to save my completed project to my CD burner (Lite-on) or my DVD Burner (pioneer a106) which will butn a CD or a DVD+/-.     - Movie Maker My goal is to create a slideshow that has ~800 photos in it with around 14 music clips. The file says that it is about 400 MB big and the CD should hold about 700. I have broken it down into 3 smaller files to see if I can get it to create, it doesn't really freeze the computer, but say the initial create time is 60 minutes, it gets about 30-50% complete and then the time just keeps increasing and no more completion. I have been successful with a small 30 photo slideshow with music....but nothing larger. Also, with the small video I did create, the slideshow did not fill the screen when played....It had like a tv looking screen with sound, play, etc. buttons....Will it fill the screen so that each picture covers the screen.     - Video Effects Cause moviemaker to Crash Clips load and save with no problem. There is no ability to use any video effects rendering the program worthless. Each time I apply video effects such is increasing brightness or any other video effect the program immediately shuts down. Anyone having a solution please help.     - Video distorted previewing captured video Help please! Can't figure this one out. My computer is a Gateway 500SE 1.8 Ghz processor 512MB RAM. When I capture video with MM2 from my VCR through my capture card(AverEZ- DVD Maker) It captures the video and audio just fine but, when it's actually capturing the video the actual video in the preview window is distorted so I can't see what I'm capturing. But I can hear the audio just fine.I've checked all the settings and made sure there not in PAL mode. I would really like to see my video in the preview window when capturing.     - Manual capture problem Hello, I am able to cpture the entire tape in the cam, but the option to capture only a part of it doesn't work. I can contrle the cam and when clicking on "start capture" it starts the tape in the cam, but nothing is captured. When clicking "stop capture" an error messages says I should check the connections because nothing has been captured.     - Audio/Music tracks Hi - Movie Maker is great, but it's audio controls appear to be lacking. I want to have background music in my video, but I cannot see how to control things like fade in or out or volume with any kind of precision. There are no controls on the audio/music track in the storyboard that let's me visually see where volume changes or fade in and out occurs, so I cannot precisely synchronize with the video and audio track. In one case this occurred with every second clip ; in another every third clip and in another all clips were clear. All clips 'run' ok with sound but the white bars obscure the clips for short while.     - Capturing Profiles Not Found Hello There, For posterity, I think its important that this fix be listed here. For some unknown reason, Windows Movie Maker started complaining that "Capturing Profiles Not Found". The capture had previously been working flawlessly for some 6-8 months. After finding no reference to this issue on the web, a little toying found that installation of Windows Media Player 9 codecs solved this issue. PHEEWW! Lotsa luck!     - Audio After Project is made into a Movie I'm experiencing audio problems on all of my movies. After working on a project, and then converting it into a movie (DV-AVI) file, the audio clips in and out. I've tried increasing and decreasing the size of the music file, it seems that the audio is suffering during screen fades and transitions.     - Editing VCR and Digital videos to write on DVD disc I want to edit a video from both a digital camcorder and a VCR tape. I have them copied to my hard drive. I am using both Dazzle Video Creator 80 and Sony software to capture my videos. They are both MPEG files. I have an external DVD writer dvd 300e model. This product and all of the above are new items. The HP Arcsoft ShowBiz is what I use to edit the files. PROBLEM: When I move video icons into the program it give me a message "This file format is not supported" The files are opened with RealPlayer or Windows Media Audio/Video" Neither will open. .. I just about have finished a project in MM2. I checked
the file size and to create a avi type file is going to
take about 9GB. I've never made anything quite this
big. Now when I convert this using my dvd software, will
it compact this file so it will fit on one DVD (which
seems to be closer to 4.7 GB in total size availability.
I assume/hope it will, but could someone assure me??

Thanks for confirming this for me...I've been sucessful
with smaller projects but never one of this magnitude. I
thought that the worse case scenario would be that I put
it back to Digital Video tape, but I really wanted to use
the features of the DVD.
