    - Problem capturing video from DV device. Hello, I have been having a problem with capturing video from my Sony DV camera. When I capture video from it, the video appears "blocky" and in very bad color quality. I have used the exact same tape, camera, and wire to capture to a different computer, and it turns out completely fine. I have also used this same camera and computer to capture video about a year ago and it turned out fine as well. What could have changed this in that time?     - Collections - organize it ? WMM V2.1.4026.0 On the COLLECTIONS window .... how to have it clear ? I'd like to flush the 'old stuff' when I start a new project. I would think that would be something a lot of folks would like Did I just not find the correct item somewhere in the program to have it do so ? For instance, back from recent trip - copy all files from memory stick to a PC folder. Would like to import it all and it that stuff be all that shows up on my collections screen ( or leave the rest and put this into its own folder).     - WMM hang - Memory page faults ? Clear list ? I am occasional user of WMM V2.1.4026.0 Physical memory = 1gb. AMD 3200+ Issues creating a movie from my digital camera: details on app locking up below. Anyway to tweak XP SP2 to " work nicely" with WMM ? I see WMM page faults a lot and wondering WHY ? It shows 49k in use and it's page faulting ? I see lots of free memory -why is it pagefaulting ? I manually set virtual memory pagefile to 2gb - 4gb I have VM set to have Windows autoadjust - same thing I do find that if I create a project and save it frequently as I'm building it it works fine. But in a few months I'll forget and after a hang or two, then I'll remember to save it - exit - reopen - add etc. Is the "trick" just to save the project to disk often ? While building a movie using jpg's and avi's from my digital camera, I can add files/video until movie is 5,6,7, minutes long and then I'll go to add one more thing and it locks up. Task Mgr shows 99% of CPU usage and memory usage will increment by 2 ,8 maybe 20 pages. Page faults will show a few times a minute. Then I remember " this happened last time too". It'll hang the job forever. Just prior to me clicking on the next video name, I might have added a file , sometimes I would have played the movie back a bit with no sign of a problem. But JUST AS I click on that next item - it locks up: the WMM window will not respond. I don't know " Was the reason for the hang the fact that I clicked on that next avi to add, or had it really hung while playing back ?" If I click on my " desktop" shortcut, the desktop responds, I can go to the internet / email etc - everything else is fine. If I didn't know that job was hung, I'd never notice.     - Graininess? Not strictly MM but maybe someone here could answer. Have some video clips taken indoors with an analogue camcorder and saved via Matrox capture card as MPEG2. The video is grainy and lacks definition. Can MM improve this and if so how? I also have access to Premiere Elements, would that be better?     - Audio Ok, now that I have a new PC with WindowsXP2, I decided to try out the Moviemaker program. I know people are using it so I thought it would be a simple thing to put some video clips and music together. I got the video added, and the music on the Audio track,added Titles ,trimmed it to fade at the end and saved the file and had it copied to my video folder. When it played back with WMP there was video edited like I wanted but no audio from the music I had on the preview!     - Can't connect to Sony TRV33 Hi. I can see my Sony DV Device in the 'available devices' window within the 'Video Capture Wizard', however when i click on it WMM gives me an error message "a problem was encountered when trying to connect, check your capture devices and try again". I'm using a firewire cable and I've tried the WinDV free software and that works fine to upload the AVI file from this camera to my Media centre pc. This tells me the problem is not likely hardware.     - Clips Refuse to Play I uploaded some videos from my Sony CDR-SR42 camcorder and I imported them onto Windows Movie Maker. When I add them to the timeline and I click on one of the clips and press the play button it refuses to play. At times, it says that it is playing and it shows the seconds passing by but there is just a black screen with no audio. Eventually, the program would freeze and shut down. I took some videos on another camera of mine and imported them into Windows Movie Maker and they work perfectly fine. There are no problems with the clips I acquire from the camera.     - RE OPENING SAVED PROJECT ON MOVIE MAKER When I am done with a project file in Movie Maker and it is "supposed" to be saved, I CANNOT re open the project file saved in my Video even though it shows under the movie maker video icon with the title I assigned to it.     - Problems with saving it as a movie ok heres how it go's. I was making a video game movie using many clips. Now...I was moving them into a folder, then importing it from that folder. Then after that i would move it out into a different folder. Later...After I edited everything. I clicked the "browse for missing clips" optiion. And found it for everything. However it seems I cannot save them all. I have moved the files to all the folders that they were every in with copy and paste. I believe i have enough memory.     - Will MovieMaker support AVCHD format soon? Just got a Panasonic HDC-SD1 HD camcorder. It uses AVCHD format (.mts). The camera is fantastic, but the video editing/conversion S/W that's included is quite weak. Ideally I'd like to convert AVCHD to WMV-HD. Is there currently a good way to do this? I tried ULEAD VideoStudio-11, but the resulting .wmv video was very poor. Is there a AVCHD codec I can add to Vista MovieMaker, or any other suggestions?     - splitting source files to fit as data on DVD Hi, I used WMM to import from my digital camera. I want to be able to save the footage on DVD in its orginal format (that is, as a source file rather than as an edited movie). Problem is, I have imported in large files - up to 9Gb - too big to fit as a data file on a DVD. Is there any easy to split the source files into smaller files, so that I can easy save them to disk?     - Avi files don't show up! Hi, I have some animations (.avi files - no sound only video) I want to put them together into a movie. I can import the avi files into Windows MM and can play them in the preview window. However, when I 'drag and drop' the avi files from the collections folder to the timeline and try to play the timeline in the preview window, I only see a black screen in the preview window.     - Fades I have a timeline with about 50 pictures in it. I don't want to add a video transition between each of them (which adds time to the movie) but I want each picture to fade in and fade out. I can do this for each individual picture by right clicking on the clip, choosing Fade In, then repeating for Fade Out. This takes a long time for so many pictures. When I used WMM, for this same particular video, everytime I try to enter a clip at a specific time on the timeline, my computer informs me that WMM stopped working. Weird thing is, all my video files still work - I didn't have to manually search for the files again, they're all right there. And my projects play normally.     - WMM crashes when my project reaches about 5 or 6 minutes WMM is crashing whenever i try to add a clip to a project I am allready working on. I am making a smaller movie from a big AVI by cutting the best parts. So far it was going well, I cut about 20 small clips into my project. But now it doesn't accept any new clips anymore.     - Audio- XP MovieMaker Captured video and audio from a Sony handycam DV and while it was capturing, had all the audio. Now, when I go to put it all together, I have no audio. I have recently installed a new Videocard on my computer. It's a new vista
compatible Ati Saffire X1950 pro card. Since then i can't use WMM normally.
The Captured video's from Mediacenter give a green screen in WMM. Audio works
normally. How can i solve This problem? Can anyone give me some advice?
