I've read that this is not as noticeable if the source is recorded with 16-bit audio, but I have about 5 hours of raw footage recorded using 12-bit audio that I need to edit!     - Newbie - fade to black effect in MM2 I recently got a new PC and MM2 (4 days ago actually) and have had a go at creating a couple of short movies. I have to say that so far I'm impressed with the ease of use of the program. Does anybody know if it's possible to adjust the period of the fade from/to black effects? I suppose I could just fade in or out from/to a pure black still and adjust the length of the fade transition, but it would be simpler if I could adjust the properties of the effect itself.     - Problems downloading video to ext.HD I have no problems saving dv-avi. to the internal 30 Gig HD. but I have no space to work. I purchased a Buslink 80G.7200rpm 1394 and USB-2 to save and edit bulk video from. I want to make a one step process. Both drives are ntfs, and DMA on. When I attempt to save video to the EXT Buslink it is dropping about 1/3 of the content. I tried to download MM 2 directly on the Ext. Buslink but it will only link to it from its internal HD location. I cannot find a way to remove MM 2 or MY VIDEOS from the internal drive and then load it on the External Buslink as suggested in the Papa John information. The frame dropping is the same with AVI or WMV. The notebook is P-4 1.7 512 30Ga and a PCMCIA Belkin 3 port firewire card. The setup is Sony DV-22 firewire to Belkin card then the Buslink provided firewire cable to the Buslink. Note. I am able to save from DV to internal HD and then copy to Ext HD without problem. HELP!! I have spend days on this and am hoping to achieve the optimum setup of bypassing the C drive CPU!! For clarity I have pasted the info on external HD below from PapaJohns site. I am trying to store my video projects there to avoid overloading my C drive. I save them under the E drive, but when I go back to work on them and retrieve them they are back under "my videos" on the C drive. I have tried moving "my videos" to E drive and have even deleted it and all its contents on C, but it keeps coming back. How can I store my projects on the new drive and can Movie Maker be moved to the new drive also? > There are few things to do. Also you can improve the performance. First, if your additional hard drive is faster, you should use this hard drive as a source. How you can do it. When you select record the movie button, you can press the top choice button and select the other hard drive. You should open a new file in that drive, and name it so you can find it easly. If the external hard drive is USB 2.0 or fire wire connection, transfer rate is about 410-480 mbps. You should install the MM2 on that hard drive. How you can do it - first uninstall from slow C hard drive, than install again. This time don't accept the default choice of the program, hit the browse button and search for external drive and install on it. This will relieve the first C drive from additional work, things will be faster and smoother. But evertime you use the MM2 your external hard drive should be connected.     - Codecs for MM2 Hey everyone- I haven't had much luck gettin my other questions answered, maybe this will have some luck. I noticed that when I import MPEG's that I have captured, I get a lot of stuttering in the flow (even after creating a movie file). Howeve if I first convert the MPEG's to .wma files, then everything seems to be smooth. I suspect that the MM2 isn't recognizing the codec's used by my Instant DVD 2.0 USB capture device. Is ther any way to ensure that the codecs used by MM2 are the same as those used by MM2?     - MM2 terminates, when trying to use 'Titels and Credits' I recently installed, together with SP1 and assorted goodies, WMP 9 and Moviemaker II. I can not use the 'Open File' function in WMP9, as it sits there for about 1 second, after which WMP terminates completely, without error-message. I can 'drag and drop' without problem from a separatedly opened Explorer-screen. In Moviemaker II I can not use the 'Titles and Credits' Tool. As soon as I choose an option within the Titels menu, MM2 terminates, once again without error-message. Are these 2 problems related, and does anybody know of a fix. I captured and edited a video from my digital camcorder into Windows Movie Maker. In Movie Maker, I created several clips with transition points in between. I added title pages in between each clip (actually as clips I guiess) with transitions between each clip. Then I went into MyDVD and created a menu for each clip (so each menu included one clip with title and transition). On some sections, the video does not flow from one menu (clip) to the next. It stops and I have to press menu on by DVD player and move to the next menu. And then on some when it gets to the end of the clip/menu, it goes on to the next. So, how do I make it flow from menu to menu AND how can I make each clip act more like a chapter point so if I press my forward arrow on my DVD player, it will go to the next clip automatically.     - Import analog vid via Sony DV cam Analog video I am trying to import analog video through my Sony TRV-22 DV cam. Other Video capture programs allow me to do this, just capture the incoming video stream. When I try to use MM2, I keep getting the No Tape in DV cam when I try to record/ import to computer.     - mix-up movies I'm trying to use the Movie Maker with a lap-top. Not easy! I have to make short films and I had hoped I could record part one, then part 2 and so on. And combine them into one long movie. Not! The computer decided to put the last film I recorded 1st, the 1st film I recorded last and so one.     - How do I change Audio Bitrate? In order to get my sound working well with Movie Maker 2 until Microsofts releases a fix on this issue(assuming that they will), I saw a post somewhere on how to change the audio bitrate on my .avi files to be more friendly with WMM2 I believe using virtual dub or some other freeware like that, however after searching all day I can't seem to find that post.     - Sound Is terrible, How can I fix? I captured video from my Panasonic Mini DV using DvRaptor by canopus which saves them as .AVI files. When I import these into Windows Movie Maker 2 they play just fine, but when I drag them to the timeline of Windows Movie Maker 2 the sound from the videos become scratchy and metalic sounding. I wondered if this was just an issue on my PC so I decided to try importing .AVI files on the computer at my work that also has Windows Movie Maker 2 on it and I found that I had the same problem on that computer, so I am assuming that this could be a known issue.     - final creation and the big freeze hi, right now i am in Bagram, Afghanistan, and i just finihed months of work making a movie. Here is the problem. When i got to save the final product, to the computer or CD, it goes on fine, but when i go to watch the thing, somewhere in the movie the audio will continue as normal, but the Video freezes. I took a look at the size and it does not seem the size is right. only about 62MB out of 477Mb. Can anyone tell me what might be happening. Why it is not recording the rest of my video?     - Problem in Using PC as PVR--start timer?? I recently decided that rather than keep accumulating more VHS tapes, that now when I wanted to record something from TV, I would do it to my computer. From there I can keep programs stored on a large external hard drive, can burn the programs to VCD. (I don't currently have a DVD-burner, may add that in the future), and can also compress them to a format to watch on my Pocket PC. I purchased a USB analog video capture card (my computer is a notebook, running Windows XP), and a large (180 GB) external firewire hard drive. I have various software that can be used to capture video, including some that came with various devices, including the video capture device, some shareware and freeware, and Windows Moviemaker. So---if I'm home when the program starts that I want to record, I can do that. Most of these programs have timers that will automatically stop recording after a specified period of time, two hours or whatever. So, I can set the timer for how long the program is, start recording when the program starts, and it will stop recording automatically. The feature I haven't seen is--a timer to start the recording at a particular clock time. Last night I wanted to record a television program that began at 9 PM. I wasn't going to be home at that time, however. So, I wanted to set a timer that would begin the video capture automatically at 9 PM. I opened every single program I had that could capture video, including Windows Moviemaker, MovieStar, Movie Shop, Cyberlink Power Director Pro, DVD Complete, Arcsoft VideoImpression, Virtualdub, and others. In all of them I searched for a way to set a timer to start capturing at a particular time. I searched the menus, the capture dialog boxes, and the help files as well. I couldn't find that capability in any of them. That surprised me, as it seems a pretty basic feature in a program that captures video, that a person might want to capture a television program when one is not at home, as one does with a VCR, that there would be a timer to specify at which clock time to begin recording. Very surprised not to find that feature in any program. Did I miss something? Is there a way to do that with those programs (or some of them)? Are there any other video capture programs that do have such a start timer capability? (In case anyone is interested, I really wanted to record that program, so I found an empty VHS tape, and recorded it the old way, with the VCR. If I want to I could now capture the VHS tape to digital format. However, for that desired result, it would be much simpler, quicker, and probably create better quality results, to capture directly from the program to the digital format.)     - 1394 + Moviemaker I have Windows XP SP1, 40GB, 128RAM, 1.1Ghz PIII. I bought IEEE1394 PCI card from Trust Softwares. I have a Sony Digital Camcorder PC110. The OS has successfully installed the drivers and says working properly. But in the movie maker or AMCAP doesn't detect the device. Trust and Sony says the drivers are available for 1394 with the OS. saved the movie several times and each time I am playing
it back, it freezes. Not on the same image everytime but
freezes nonetheless. I don't understand why. It tells me
it's successfully saved but it doesn't work.

Is it the Windows Media Player that is freezing when you play the saved
movie? Did you save it as a DV-AVI file or a WMV one?
