Hi all

Here's a list of the top 5 free video editing programs out there. Just
thought it might be useful for those of you who just want a simple, no
frills video editor.

That appears to be a problem with your particular web
browser (likely the security settings). For whatever
reason that web page uses some kind of (Java?) script
instead of straightforward links. You can see the real
URLs if you examine the page source code.

hey Gary,
nice, but I was wondering on your web site under the 7 programs for
beginners why no mention of Sony Vegas movie studio? or any vegas products
for that matter?
Just curious?

Hi Anthony,

Yes Sony Vegas movie studio is great too. But I didn't include it at

Gary,

I'm confused by your reply. Doesn't your web site show ***free*** programs
whereas Anthony is asking about Vegas Movie Studio and Vegas 6, neither one
of which is free?

Thanks,

Smarty

Hi Smarty,
I'll help clarify, the link Gary posted shows free programs indeed, but I
was asking about why he hadn't included any Sony software in other sections
of his site.
He mentions adobe Premiere elements and Premiere Pro for more professional
tasks but no mention of Sony Movie Studio or Vegas 6, as if they didn't
exist.
I was just curious why? And his answer didn't seem to explain any reason
except admit it.
Perhaps then Gary, you should amend your web site, so state that it is
incomplete until you have a chance to review all popular programs?

Maybe Gary, like a lot of us, doesn't trust Sony now because of
rootpack. I have a Sony camera but wont buy Sony now.

Maybe not but after a stunt like that who knows what they would consider an
ok technical improvement.
Say they decide to add some type of Digital signature to the DV stream in
camera so Sony post products can identify and "optimise" performance with
only Sony DV streams but this is then found to screw other non Sony
products.
Unbelievable? Would have said so once... Now....

Rootkits are an annoyance, as they are hard to remove. Your example is
pretty far fetched, but I am sure a 15 year old kid with a bit of
spare-time, can write a patch for that, which would probably spread like
wildfire.

That's true. However, for normal videography you wouldn't need to install
anything, just for importing stills from memory-sticks. But again, this is
now, and you never know what might be developed in the future.

Ahhh, yes I didn't see the sig.
As far as "correcting the top posting" this is one of the rare NG's where we
could care less about top posting since the majority of the responses are
"in-line"

Interesting, which one of the crossposted groups doesn't care about
top posting? AFAIK, most people on rec.video.production do.

A: Maybe because some people are too annoyed by top-posting.
Q: Why do I not get an answer to my question(s)?
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

R: Then they need to get a life. There's much more important things to worry
about.

> A: Maybe because some people are too annoyed by top-posting.
> Q: Why do I not get an answer to my question(s)?

R: Actually if you are reading the thread from top to bottom on the very
LAST post then IMO you are reading it incorrectly anyway as it would make
far more sense to start with the first post of the thread and work your way
into it if you chose to wait so long before reading it to begin with.. I
have never seen a NG where there weren't comments inserted throughout the
original post and in the moviemaker NG it is often necessary to do so. How
then can you rwad it from top to bottom.

I've heard the arguments thousands of times no need to repeat them again.
No I didn't even look to see that the message was cross-posted.
I am posting my comment from the moviemaker NG.

My rule of thumb is simple. If I am jumping into the middle of a thread I
post however the others are posting whether it be top or bottom posting. I
have more important things to worry about than complaining about how other
people are posting and correcting it because you think your position is the
ONLY position.
