    - Screen output as video capture device? Sorry, this is probably a bit silly, but I'm new to this MM-technology. Is it not possible to record events in a window as a video-clip? - I have a TV tuner-card, could I use that as intermediary capture device and have MovieMaker record it from there? Reading the documentation isn't really enlightening about this specific subject - I understand that I need a properly configured Capture Device, but I'd assumed that to include the screen.     - Length of Audio Clip I'm using the Narrate Timeline feature and find that regardless of how long I talk, the audio clip cuts off after 7.61 seconds.     - WMM & WinDVD Creator sound problems Hi I have created a slideshow in WMM (as I like the effects better than Photo Story 3. I imported it into WinDVD to print. I save the project to movie file with settings of DV-AVI (Pal) & also high quality video (PAL) & also best quality playback for computer. With DV-AVI the sound & picture shutters With High quality video its much worse than DV-AVI With Best Quality for computer its really bad also.     - Import Files from ADS Capture Device Hi, I would like to be able to import files that was capture via ADS DVD Xpress and ADS DVD Xpress DX2 via a USB port. When I try to import the file into Widows Movie Maker it tell me 'G:\My Videos\Bubba on Lanai.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from.'     - TmpGEnc AVI Files Seem WAY Too Large I wish to import some MPEG-2 files into Windows Moviemaker. Because the problems with Moviemaker and MPEG-2 are well-documented, I decided to use TmpGEnc to convert to uncompressed AVI as an intermediate format acceptable to Moviemaker. The source files are from a JVC Everio camcorder. This device writes MPEG-2 files and tags them with a .MOD extension, which TmpGEnc does not accept, but I found that all I had to do was change the extension to .MPG and that problem disappears. My question is the file size - the output AVI files are, on average, about 1.5 Gigabytes per minute. Does this seem reasonable, and in line with what an uncompressed AVI file should be? I know that mini- DV files, which are not heavily compressed, are about 12 or 13 GB per hour, or about 200 MB per minute. If uncompressed AVI is really supposed to be 1.5 GB per minute, this would imply that mini-DV is already compressed about 7:1, which I find hard to believe. thanks and regards, Martin Tag: finishing a movie Tag: 59382

    - Video sticking I have searched this forum but can't find a similar issue. I saved my video from my Sony SRI to the hard drive of my PC as mpeg 2 files and subsequently created a movie. Everything is fien at this stage and the preview looks good. Then when I render the file as a DV AVI file for playback on my PC the final movie sticks every so often ruining the show. The audi seems fine but every few seconds the video sticks makes the movie suck. Can anyone help?     - General access error 2 THIS IS PART 2 OF GENERAL ACCESS ERROR FOR MORE INFO READ:"general access error" I am using aWindows Vista so... -IE 7 is standard and Mov Maker worked fine untill recently that is (so I don't think that's the problem) -I've also seen a report that disabling the ffdshow codec could be the fix.     - title overlay & syncing to video timeline I'm run into this little annoying tidbit. Titles are placed on the timeline in the "titles overlay" bar. However, they are synced to the overall timeline, and not to their relative place within a video clip, if placed "over" a video clip. Then - if I trim a video - all the video shifts - BUT the overlay titles do not. I then have to manually re-adjust ALL the overlays as they are pasted relative to the timeline, not the clips they are overlaying.     - Slightly OT -- Converting WMM files to Flash Does anyone have any experience in converting Windows Movie Maker 2 output in WMV format to Flash files? There are several programs on the market that would appear to do this; their pricing is all over the board, so it is not like comparing apples to apples. I work for a newspaper that has a web site. I'm thinking of using WMM to edit video then saving that as a WMV file. Finally, running it through one of the Flash conversion programs for the finished file. It may also have some possibilities in creating some simple, rich media advertising files. If you have any experience, please post here or simply email your comments directly to me.     - How / Why is a MEDIATAB1.DAT File created? Is it normal naming co I have aalways been of the impression that when a *.DAT file is created by Moviemaker that it appears as MEDIATAB.DAT or MEDIATAB0.DAT, and that file gets replaced / added to as time progresses. The other day we found a MEDIATAB1.DAT file on the computer that appeared to arrive admist strange circumstances. The usual default file on my PC is for MEDIA0TAB.DAT.     - Capture Device Not Found... Just installed a firewire card and tried MMaker...first time the wizard appeared, recognized the Sony DV camera and all was going OK.     - DVD drive may be Ker-Poot : ( Well, after way too much trouble, I've finally gotten to the point where I found some software that would allow me to reload a Movie Maker file and try to burn my first DVD. The message comes up & says "Media not Recognized." Now, I've had my PC for over three years and have burned many CDs, but never had the occasion to burn a DVD. Yes, it is a DVD - CD combo burner... or at least it says it is. So, that's not an issue. I tried to burn a data DVD in another program and got a similar message, so I'm thinking that it might very well be the drive that is going bonkers. The Geek Squad guy told me that they use two different lasers, so it could still function fine while burning CDs but not do anything at all with DVDs. So....................... since I don't really want to tear apart my tower to install a new drive, I'm considering an external one. Has anyone had any experience with them? Good: Bad? Otherwise? This whole project is getting kind of ridiculous... I bought a DV camera because I supposedly had everything else I needed on my PC (my Dell came pre-configured with software, a firewire & the DVD burner). Since then, I've had to buy software, a firewire cable and now it looks like maybe a new drive. : ( One other question... is there any diagnostic software out there in cyberspace that might tell me if my drive is indeed bad? You can do this by setting up Media Player for example. The Turn Repeat
ON/OFF feature.
