title says all...is there a way to get asx files into movie maker? they play
w/ WMP, so I figure they should be editable w/ MM.

if not, is there a way to convert an asx into wmv or asf?

try opening the asx file with Notepad and seeing if there's a pointer to the
video file you want...

No joy...the file is garbaldy-gook (binary?) it is a 34MB video file I
downloaded. I wanted to edit it down.

As far as I'm aware the asx file is the meta data file, not the actual
video/audio file.
Where did it come from?

right click the "download" link and save to your HD. There are many similar
files on this site, and the file size on my HD is 34.2 MB so I would think it
is the actual file.
