In MM2, drag the clip to the audio/music track and save it... with only
audio it'll give you WMA quality options.

I have tried that and audio quality is good, next question is how can I save
the audio file mp3 format and not the "mswmm" file extension?
Thank you for your advice

the MSWMM file is the project file... the saved audio file is a .WMA.

then to convert from WMA to MP3.... all I have are my now somewhat old
notes, but I'll attach a copy. There's probably better and newer options
today.

DBPowerAmp. - It's free and will convert .wma to .mp3 (with plug-in) and
also rip CD's to .wav, .mp3, or wma. www.cnet.com or try a search.
(Crunchyfrog post of 11/8/02). You can use the freeware dbpoweramp to conver
from wma to mp3. http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm. You will also want to
download the File selector tool from the same website to convert folders. >
1/12/02 post - I downloaded the latest version of DBPowerAmp, and on launch
it offers to open various wave and mpX files, but not wma. (I agree with
Steve - see the same thing)

Nero - 12/10/02 post ...when I did my first MP3 disc I got caught out. By
this I mean that I encoded the tracks into MP3's and burnt them onto a CD. I
was unaware of a little known fact that the software would re-encode them
back into their original form which was CDA format. I was using NERO but
also have NERO EXPRESS which I find is very user friendly. Using NERO
EXPRESS you just download the tracks as they are and then before you burn
the disc you select MP3 from the file list and then burn and hey presto! you
now have a MP3 disc!

TMPGEnc - 12/10/02 post - I never tried, but it just occurred to me that
TMPGEnc should be able to convert WMAs to WAV and, installing the Lame
encoder, to MP3 also.

Winamp with the mp3 output plug-in

Windows Media Player - with one of the MP3 plugins ($10) - Use higher
bitrate to encode. Inside Windows media player, go to menu path tools -->
settings. Follow "Copy Music" tab and change the settings to 160 kbps. >
1/19/03 post by Bee - Now I want to convert those files from wma to mp3 so
that I can download them onto my iPod. I have downloaded a couple of the
MP3 burner plugins (recommended by MS) but all of them are geared to coping
from or to actual CDs and I have not been able to convert the files from one
location on my hard drive to another location on my hard drive.
