I have 16mm reels that I want to put on digital movies.

Internet search and look for a transfer company. 8mm you should find a lot
of. 16mm will be a little bit harder. I would also look for some of the
film bulletin board sites as there will be a user's group with current
experience.

I thought I would have to go out to get some help...
we tried to work with these 16mm and they are brittle.
So you are correct to find someone that has experience with that type.
