    - Windows Movie Maker says it can't publish movie because... I tried to publish my video to be the WMV format. But then it says that It cannot publish the movie to the specific location. And that I have to verify the orginial source files used in the movie are still available, that the publishing location is still available. Can someone please help me?     - Captured video only plays as blank screen. So, I'm trying to capture my old vhs tapes from my vcr into my computer. On the capture screen i click start capture and it seems to be capturing, the preview plays the video and audio just fine. I thought it was capturing the movie then after about 30 min i thought i'd stop capture and save it. When I tried to play the what i had just captured the clip playin in movie maker and windows media player showed the clip as being 30min, but wasn't playing any video or audio just a black screen. I just remember another problem. In the preview window it showed the how many minutes of film had been captured, but on estimated video size it only said 5k and was not moving. I have checked all MS references and cannot find a solution. I am using XP on a machine with plenty of capacity.     - sound probelm i just finished a video using my old digital camera. its a music video with a piece of conversation between me and my wife at the beginning. i used the microphone from the camera to capture the converstaion and then used an mp3 for the music later on. whenever i tried to save the film onto my computer and then play it back on the windows media player the sound and video jumps ONLY when the conversation takes place causing me to believe that it is the sound problem from the digital camera. when i checked on what setting my camera was on it said 'PAL' and not 'NTSC' does this make a difference? i have tried copying the conversation audio onto a narration track using the narration tool and the same thing happens when i play the finished film on WMP. is there any way i can change the quality of the conversation audio so that it doesnt mess up the film when i play it back. the bit rate for the audio track is 32 kbps. sample rate: 8khz ...if this is any help. i hope i have explained this well enough. i have been tearing my hair out with this. at the moment the only option i can think of is to re-do the conversation with a narraration over the top. like a re-dub. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Tag: Any editing SW work with both .avi & .mov files on PC-XP?     - Downloading from Camcorder with Vista I am downloading with Vista/Moviemakewr for the first time having been on XP before. I am suddenly getting widescreen format.     - WMM thinks I have no memory left in My Computer. I had finished making a music video. I clicked the "Save to my computer." When the Windows Movie Maker Wizard shows, I chose my video's destination to be "My Videos." I clicked "Next." Then, when they ask for my video size/selection, I chose "High Quality (small)." This means my video should be 320 x 240. I click "Next." Note: My computer C drive has 46.37 GB left However, when they showed me the saving progress, it shows me "Save to my CD." "You're movie is being recorded and saved to a CD." I don't understand. My destination was supposed to be "My Videos" in my C drive. Plus, it stays at 0% I don't know what's going on.     - WMV File Clip "Plays" But Video Image Does Not Advance I have Captured a 34 MB File from my Sony HandyCam as a WMV file. As I had checked the box so that it would be automatically split up into individual Clips, MovieMaker 2.1 created 39 Clips out of the file. The first Clip works fine (i.e., the progression bar advances, I hear the audio and the video displays and advances normally in the upper right video display area---and I can pause, move frames forward and backward, etc). I created a Split in the first Clip at a desired point. The subsequent Clips "Play" after some delay---which I assume is beacuse of indexing / positioning to the applicable Start and Stop time reference points in the WMV file---with the progression bar advancing, the audio playing, BUT the video displays only the first frame in the Clip and does NOT advance normally in the upper right video display area. The entire WMV file plays without issue, from end to end, in Windows Media Player without issue. I am at a loss as to what is happening here. I have rebooted my PC and get the same results. The various Clips obviously cannot be edited without being able to "see" and position the frames for further Clip splitting and posting to the Storyboard Timeline.     - can hear the sound but not see the picture of .AVI files. That .AVI files was converted from .swf by some converting program,, I installed the codecs like xvid, Divx so I was able to play the AVI files in Windows media player ( could see pictures and hear sounds). but in Window Movie Maker , When I was trying to play the AVI file , I couldn't see the pictures of it.     - Stop at 2 % When I am done editing a movie in Windows Movie Maker in Vista, I click publish to computer. I save in the Videos folder. But when I try to publish it to my HDD, it goes to 2 % done and sits there. The minutes remaining just goes higher and higher. I have left this thing for 4 hours and it is still stuck on 2%.     - fuzzy photos AFTER project has been saved Hello all, this is not the first time I have used MM to make a project but it is the first time I feel that the photos I see in my finished product are not very sharp. I can understand that before finalizing the project photos should be fuzzy but not once I save the project. I had such high hope! Please help.     - Movie Maker, Vista, and MM restarts instead of publishing I'm using Vista, MM 6.0 etc, WMV audio file, JPG pictures, short video clips in the WMV format. No special effects on transitions. I've worked hard to time the pictures and video with the audio (it's a music video of my band that I'm working on) but when I go to publish --- MM asks for a file name, which I enter and hit next, then it closes, restarts itself, checks for the files, but does absolutely nothing after that. No error messages. It just doesn't publish. I tried copying the file and moving over to XP, but that doesn't work. Duh, I should've realized it would be a different version. What can I do to resolve this? I saw a similar problem on XP posts that's resolved by resaving video with some sort of Microsoft video timestamp program but can't figure out if that applies here.     - Movie Maker crashes immediately I tried running Movie Maker for the first time but it crashed immediately. I apparently inherited this (as I've read) from installing SP2...eons ago. In an attempt to repair it, I've managed to install 2.0 over 2.1 and then take 2.0 back off again (I think). I've even tried re-installing the update that put it on originally (I think)...KB892312. All to no avail...it still crashes several seconds after starting it. The desktop is drawn and the pull down menus will respond but I then get the dreaded "xxx has encountered a problem and needs to close..." window.     - Windows Movie maker problem hello there. to the point. when trying to create a movie. all is well in the begining. after I add the first video clip, when I add another video clip. an then the Moviemaker Crash's. from the first time I had problems I think when I imported a video clip that was given to me. an when I added it to movie maker. at first was ok. then after it started not work properly. as in the interface. all the features went from what is seen when the all is working. then to now the interface is bare minimal. no transitions an such. well to say after I updated my platform I got to see my moviemaker as it was. but still won't allow me to add one more video clip. it crash's. I notice when I updated my platform it also updated my moviemaker to the new updated 2.1 I have been contemplating on trying to download the trial version to see if that could fix whatever happened to the regestry. ughh its madening. I'm wandering if it could be to do with plugins. I have no experience in this. as I won't load the video that was on disc. for example I'm wandering if the small video clip could have been a divx.     - PLEASE HELP!! i cannot burn my project to a DVD+R. i had always been able to until i recently had to have a system restore. when i put my burned DVD+R disk into my DVD player it says "wrong disk format", but it plays in my computer. i've also tried a CD-R, and it does the same thing. it won't even work using nero. i don't get it because i had always been able to burn my videos using DVD+R before. can somebody please help me?? i have a project that i have to burn using windows movie maker soon. thanks!!!!!     - Analog capture with sony cam I have a Dell 3.2ghz desktop with XP SP2, 1GB ram, GEForce pci-express card and a Pinnacle 510 USB. MM freezes up after I start capture. I've got RCA sound and video into the 510 and USB cable to the computer. Deveice manager shows the 510 driver and no conflicts. Any ideas are appreciated.     - Need help Papa John I was able to use Win media encoder on my computer at work, but had no way to save to DVD, so tried at home, and Win Media encoder wouldn't work on my home computer, have no idea why, so borrowed a family members laptop yesterday, win media encoder installed on it and ran, had to save the files to DVD and now that I have the one I really need a piece of video from, and have moved it from DVD to temp file, I am getting the following error: The file E:\VTS_01_02.1.wmv is not indexed and cannot be imported, what do I do now.     - Splitting a Clip and Saving the Smaller Clips Individually My external memory drive with 27GB of videos crashed. I was able to recover the files after purchasing a file recovery program, but instead of being able to recover my numerous clips, I ended up with one huge 27GB mpeg file. I imported this into Windows Movie Maker Version 5.1 (I am using Windows XP with SP2) and have split the huge clip into 45 smaller, organized clips. Firstly, how can I save these clips into my computer as individual clips? And second, ideally I'd like to save them in mpeg format just as they originally were before my drive crashed.     - moving WMM project & files to another computer Hello, I created a music video on an XP computer that worked great. I moved the project and all the related clip files to a VISTA computer so that I could utilize some of the newer "effects" (WMM v.6). BUT, even though the project seems to exhibit all the clips on the timeline just fine - it won't play or "publish" because (I think) WMM thinks the original files are missing. Initially, the timeline was blank - but I clicked on<browse for missing file> which SEEMED to bring everthing back in, but it still doesn't play. Does anyone know how to tell WMM where to "look for" files in the case of a computer change. I know that invariably, with such a switch, the files are obviously no longer in exactly the same spot as before - and the project needs to be re-educated as to their location.     - File is too large to save on DVD I created a 30 minute slideshow with music using WMM. I saved it in DV-AVI format because I would like to play it on a DVD player. The size is over 5G and my DVD only allows 4.7 GB. How should I save it or is there a way to make the file size smaller? I tried the best fit option but I wasn't sure which file size to choose.     - Rendering Problems I have a 30 minute film with video clips and bmp photos and wma music. The first rendering requested I free up more memory and suggested â??disk clean upâ??. I did this and then it suggested â??do you want more memoryâ??. I clicked yes and it pulled up all of my programs. I deleted some programs and started rendering. It went OK until about 3 minutes before the end and the video and audio got â??jerkyâ?? and the rendering stopped, saying the video was complete. I removed some more programs, and tried rendering again. This time the same thing happened after only 10 minutes, â??jerkyâ?? and the program is complete. Without removing any more programs, I rendered it again, and this time it stopped after about 12 minutes, saying the program is complete. My source file has taken up about 20 GB of my partitioned 60GB D drive. My C drive has about 7 GB free on my 16GB C drive. SRAM is 512 MB Processor is Pentium 4 1.5GHz Question 1) Is the temporary rendering file on the D or C drive? Question 2) If I cut the video into say 3 separate videos and render each to the hard drive, then place these 3 new video clips on a new time line. Should that work?     - New movie won't save I have created simple movies by using pictures, clipart and such to create a movie. For the first time I am trying to create a movie using video. I import a movie from a website that is unprotected and in .wmv format. I try to create a new movie by using only a portion of the imported video. The selected clips can be put on the timeline and play just fine. The problem is when I try to save the new video to my computer. The save dialogue opens and within about a minute gets to 95% and then stops and goes no further. It continues to say that it is saving and the Task Manager indicates that it is running. But it never completes the save. I even let it go for 12 hours on one try. The same result happens when trying to save to a CD except that the process stops at 55%. This has been the same result on three different computers using XP Pro and XP. What is the problem? Can movies not be made from downloaded videos imported into Movie Maker?     - Soundtrack Transitions Questions for you all. I'm making a movie with a soundtrack of selected songs. Many of the songs are several minutes in length (too long for my needs). Currently, my option appears to be to cut the song where there is a loll. However, even at its best these transitions are rough and abrupt. I'd prefer a more seemless move from song to song. I've found the movie maker tool that toggles the ratio/volume between the soundtrack and narration tracks, but there doesn't seem to be a tool or button that allows one to fade music in and out while staying in the soundtrack.     - how to get a visualization ala winamp? Hi I put a bunch of videos on youtube and I was wondering if there's an easy way to get a visualization to synchronize with the audio track I've put in.... ie: an oscilloscope or something a long those lines.
