Hi there,

I searched some other posts about how to download Movie Maker but they all
seemed kinda out of date and all offered different things. Can someone
please tell me how to download it? If it's relevant, I have Windows 5.1
(Service Pack 2)--or at least, that's what it says if I have gone to right
place!

Thanks.

MM2.1, the latest version only comes with the XP2 SP2 package... check the
info on my Setup Movie Maker > MM2.1 page.

Hi PapaJohn,
I'm replying to you because it seems my current problem is closely related.
I do have SP2 installed. In my c:\windows\system32\dllcache my moviemkr.exe
has a version of
2.0.3312.0. In my c:\Program Files\Picture Maker directory all the .dll's
have versions of 2.1.4026.0, but the moviemkr.exe file has the 2.0.3312.0 as
stated above. It appears to me that somehow my moviemkr.exe file was not
updated. Is this how it appears to you??

Also, on a related issue, could you tell me why some XP installations have a
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386, while others do not. Mine for some reason
does not.

Thanks so much.

I agree..... and would copy the v2.1 exe file over the one in the working
folder...

The i386 folder with the 2,000+ files in it is an option when installing the
Service Pack... the option to have the backup files for use if needed....
