    - WMM won't open anymore i made this video using WMM and i was just about done when an error came up and it said it had to close. there were three options, debug, send error report, dont send error report. i clicked send error report and tried to open the project again and it kept on doing that so i shut down my computer. when i turned it on again and tried to open my project WMM wouldn't even open! and i tried over and over agaiin and still nothing?     - No Picture in monitor when playing the timeline. Help please Hello all. I have used Moviemaker a few times before and have never experienced this. I have captured some clips from my camcorder and put them in my collection. When I play each individual file from collections it will appear in the monitor, when I drag them into the timeline and play from there the screen is blank. I can hear sound but no visuals.     - Website... restructuing the sections about capturing video... When I started my website, it was mostly about mini-DV camcorders, which I sorted into separate pages by brand name.... then by model numbers on the pages The info has grown stale as the mini-DVs are getting to be few and far between... to freshen it, I'm totally restructruing those sections and pages. The menu now has a single branch for Cameras and Capture Devices, with two sub-branches... 1 --- 'Types' is a new one, into which I'll move existing info and add new stuff... it has pages for Film, 8mm tape, Hi8 tape, mini-DV tape, DVD, Hard Drive, Digital Cameras, Webcam, and Cell Phone. 2 --- 'Brand Names'... has the older pages with whatever info is left as I move info into the new pages... some model or brand specific issues will remain on those pages Over the weekend I got a chance to play with my son's new Sony Hard Drive camcorder... a model DCR-SR42 that records MEG2 files to a hard drive... I tested the conversion process on his laptop and mine, to get the files to DV-AVI format and into Movie Maker.     - What file type should I use? I have read several topics on this sbject including the very informative articles by Graham Hughes but I'm still confused. I'm using a Desktop with 250GB HD, 1GB Memory, DVD Burner & firewire cable. If I capture using DV-AVI and check the box for "Create Clips when Video finishes" the system doesn't break the file into clips as it does when I select WMV. The unedited tape is about 15 min. to 20 min. long. After editing it will be less than 10 minutes. What am I doing Wrong? Another question. Should I click on the "Stop Capture" button when the entire tape is captured? If I don't the tape appears to continue running till the end. Your help will be appreciated -- J.     - Audio problem in timeline. Audio/video clip from Canon Camera .avi format plays great in media player, plays great in the "collections" preview screen after importing into MM2.     - Jerky text effects I have a couple of paragraphs in which I use scrolling text with perspective as a special effect. It will sometimes get jerky and not run smoothly through all of the text. Is there anything I can do to stop this? I have tried shortening the text, but with no luck. Is this a common problem or is there possibly a problem with my system?     - Vista's DVD maker, Re-Rendering with MPEG2 I don't know why if I convert my video to MPEG2, Vista's DVD maker insists on Re-Rendering it again anyway. I didn't have that problem with my old PC (Using Sonic/Roxio, which BTW does not work with Vista). Also Vista takes twice as long to re-render it as my other software does. I really don't like to have to buy all new software. Note: I tried installing Sonic but it removed my DVD drive!!     - MM2 is Grouping my photos I made a movie in Photo Story 3 and saved it to my computer (.wmv). Just photos, transitions, and music. I tried to open it in Movie Maker to see if I could tweak one of the songs to fit the ending of the photos (which I had a hard time doing in Photo Story) and it opened the movie in "groups" of photos. Meaning, photos 1-8 were all under one clip, photos 9-30 were under another clip, etc. It opened 6 clips, all with a different number of photos included in them. Okay, so I cleaned out my computer about a week ago, then I go to import a video file in Windows Movie Maker and it says: [File name] cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer.     - Photo Story 3 I created a short photo video using Photo Story 3 then imported that into MM2 to add a few short videos and then saved to my computer in avi format to burn to DVD.     - Movie Maker won't save to DVD I have made a slide show/movie, but I can't get it to save to DVD. It goes all through the saving stage, then goes to converting files, then stops.     - TmpGEnc AVI Files Seem WAY Too Large I wish to import some MPEG-2 files into Windows Moviemaker. Because the problems with Moviemaker and MPEG-2 are well-documented, I decided to use TmpGEnc to convert to uncompressed AVI as an intermediate format acceptable to Moviemaker. The source files are from a JVC Everio camcorder. This device writes MPEG-2 files and tags them with a .MOD extension, which TmpGEnc does not accept, but I found that all I had to do was change the extension to .MPG and that problem disappears. My question is the file size - the output AVI files are, on average, about 1.5 Gigabytes per minute. Does this seem reasonable, and in line with what an uncompressed AVI file should be? I know that mini- DV files, which are not heavily compressed, are about 12 or 13 GB per hour, or about 200 MB per minute.     - Video sticking I have searched this forum but can't find a similar issue. I saved my video from my Sony SRI to the hard drive of my PC as mpeg 2 files and subsequently created a movie. Everything is fien at this stage and the preview looks good. Then when I render the file as a DV AVI file for playback on my PC the final movie sticks every so often ruining the show. The audi seems fine but every few seconds the video sticks makes the movie suck. Can anyone help?     - General access error 2 THIS IS PART 2 OF GENERAL ACCESS ERROR FOR MORE INFO READ:"general access error" I am using aWindows Vista so... -IE 7 is standard and Mov Maker worked fine untill recently that is (so I don't think that's the problem) -I've also seen a report that disabling the ffdshow codec could be the fix.     - title overlay & syncing to video timeline I'm run into this little annoying tidbit. Titles are placed on the timeline in the "titles overlay" bar. However, they are synced to the overall timeline, and not to their relative place within a video clip, if placed "over" a video clip. Then - if I trim a video - all the video shifts - BUT the overlay titles do not. I then have to manually re-adjust ALL the overlays as they are pasted relative to the timeline, not the clips they are overlaying. I wish that MM would sync the "overlay titles" to the video clip, and keep them in place relative to the start of that specific video clip.... Tag: WMM crashes all the time Tag: 59335

Need mroe info, but crashes are often caused by wrong file types, codec
issues etc.
What files are you using?
What version are you using?
What other video/audio apps do you have installed?
