    - Editing Questions Ok, I have some questions with using Windows Movie Maker. I've searched everywhere with no success in trying to figure out what I'm wanting. 1. I want to delete just the audio for a single clip, I want the movie, but not the sound with it, I'm going to overlay it with music and don't want the sound that was recorded. 2. Dealing with the same clip I want to delete the audio from, is there a way to speed up the play time? Meaning I don't want to shorten the clip as it is now, I just want to speed up the play-back time of it, so it looks like things are moving really fast? I hope someone out there has some answers for me. Am I trying to do too much with such a basic program? Will I need to invest in a better program for the things I'm trying to accomplish?     - isolating one audio track I have a recording with two separate audio channels recorded -- I used an external microphone along with the camera's internal device. Now I would like to be able to isolate each channel, and just use the better of the two.     - Taking a Long Time Saving Movies Hello everyone, Recently I have been downloading and converting files from Youtube in 2 - 3 parts, and making them into one file by using WMM. Up until now its only been taking about 15-30 min to create one movie, but right now when I go to save as movie file it shows movie will be completed in about 115 or so minutes, ugh. Each file I'm trying to make is approximately 21-23 min in length. Here is my system Specs: WINXP SP2, 512 MB Ram, 2.3 Celeron, 80 GB HDD (30 GB free).     - Movie Maker Avi Problems. Help! Movie maker has stopped recognizing AVI files. In the past, I'd shoot AVI movies, save them to my computer and upload them for editing in Movie Maker. Recently, Movie maker doesn't seem to recognize the AVI files. Movie maker will import the files, but when the AVI file is played or dropped into a timeline the preview screen is black with only the sound comes through, no video.     - Movie Maker, 5.1 portrait format issue I have a wmv file that was an mov file that was shot in portrait mode with the camera. I converted the MOV file to WMV and then tried to use Movie Maker to make a movie, titles etc. The problem is that Movie Maker does not seem to understand that the movie is 480 x 640, portrait.     - Missing "Video Effects" choices I have Windows XP Home (SP2), Windows Movie Maker version 2.1.4026.0. This should all be the latest. No windows updates available; I'm current. When using WMM, I am missing video effects choices that others seem to have with the same version of WMM.     - Changing Transition Duration for entire movie Is there a way I can change the transition duration for each transition in the entire movie without dragging the transition in the timeline?? I want each transition to be one second, and currently they are each a half-second. I have changed the transition duration under "Tools" then "Options" to one second, however it is not applying to my movie.     - Movie Maker Can't Make Movies?? I am running Vista Home Premium, with Windows Movie Maker version 6.0.6000.16386. I've always had problems with it closing it's self when I try and import a video file (seems to be no rhyme or reason, just videos in general). I finally thought I had gotten around that, by converting my videos to .wmv, or certain types of .avi. However, now it closes it's self when I try and publish the movie. So, my conclusion, after many hours of struggling with it, is: Movie maker can't make movies. It does fine with just audio, or with pictures. But it absolutely WILL NOT work with video. Of any format. I've tried wmv, avi, mpg, divx... even files that I made IN movie maker (the couple times I've gotten it to work). Anyone have any ideas?     - Cannot capture audio when capturing video I am trying to capture 35mm analog video tapes to my HP dv9000 laptop. I am using HP Express Card video tuner. I can capture the video ok, but never get audio. I have the red and white output lines plugged into the red and white input lines on the video tuner card. On the first page of the Video Capture Wizard the only Audio device available is the one built into the laptop. The Audio Input Sources to select from are CD Audio, Microphone, and Wave Out Mix.     - Sound skips when Saved movie to DV Tape I created a movie last night and saved it to the Camcorder and when I play it back on the tv the transitions make the sound skip. I am new to this and trying to figure out why. I have tried to resave the project with no change, the sound still skips. Hi I am trying to get Itunes music to the movie maker and all that comes up is: The file C:\Users\michelle\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Jag Star\Mix\17 Ridiculous.m4a cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again. I don't know what to do, help? I cheked the support guide and all it says is: If you get a message that says that your computer is missing a codec, you are probably trying to play, burn, or sync a file that was compressed by using a codec that Windows or the Player doesn't include by default.     - Application fails to initialize When I try to start MovieMaker I receive this error: The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application. The error window pops up twice. I have tried uninstalling IE7 and I tried manually installing the MovieMaker 2.1 system files (the executable file apparently did not register correctly which I do not know how to fix.) all to no avail.     - Movie Maker file formats, Video CD I need some information about the file formats of published movies from Windows Movie maker. I made a home movie using movie maker that I am sending overseas to my family I would like to make video CD that can play in conventional video CD player they have Movie maker published the movie on cd with WMV extension. My dilemma is I am not sure if this file will work on standard CD player. I am not sure what to do 1.     - Transitions are gone I've been a little busy so I havn't been able to get to this until now. About four months ago I recieved some automatic updates and the next time I went in to work on some video all of my transition effects were gone. I still have the time effects, credits and titles and all the other stuff is working fine but I can't put in any of the fades and such. I actually use WMM for short documentary pieces and it works fairly well for most things so I really need to keep my transistion effects for this work.     - How To Choose The Right Sunless Tanning Product Sunless tanning products come in several forms. The efficacy and results of these methods vary. Prices also vary. Treatments can cost anywhere from just a few dollars for a sunless tanning cream, to as much as $100 an hour for a few sessions at a salon. With so many options for sunless tanning, it can be hard to decide which sunless tanning products are best. Most sunless tanning aids are harmless, but none will prevent the skin damage caused by the sun and UV radiation. Additional precautions will need to be taken to prevent sun damage. Furthermore, methods such as tanning beds and tanning pills are controversial and thought to be unsafe. The FDA, in fact, has not approved most tanning pills. Another facet of sunless tanning products is how long they last. Spray tans will last five to seven days, while tans from creams or powders will wash off quickly. There are three types of ultraviolet or UV radiation put out by the sun and by tanning beds and lamps: UVC, at 100 to 290 nm, UVB, at 290 to 320 nm, and UVA, at 320 to 400 nm. It is the UVA and UVB rays that are the most harmful to our skin. UVB is easier to protect against than UVA, but both cause very real damage. Going sunless does not guarantee against skin damage from UV radiation. Another determining factor for which sunless tanning products will work for an individual is skin type. Not only will bronzers and cream and sprays give differing results for fair or darker skin, but fair- skinned people are more susceptible to burning when using sunless tanning means such as tanning beds or tanning lamps. The melanin produced by people with fairer skin, particularly redheads, does not absorb radiation as well as that produced by less fair skinned people, leaving these individuals more susceptible to sun damage. Perhaps you want a suntanned look for just one occasion such as an evening out. Maybe you want something with more even coverage and a longer life.     - Vista Business and Movie Maker Can anyone help me unravel this puzzle please? I have just upgraded to Vista Business to discover - to my horror- no Movie Maker ! I upgraded XP Pro and have highly compatible hardware (quad board, 2 Gig, NVidia card etc). However I do have WMM icon but get "General access denied" error when I click it. I tried downloading WMM 2.6 from Microsoft and whilst it installs OK, I get same "General access denied" error. This discounts vid-card issues for me. Searching on "General access denied" gets me nowhere as it ends up with lots of posts asking similar question to mine.     - Capture uses all disk space Movie Maker About dialog shows: Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254 : Service Pack 2) Version 2.1.4026.0 I've been using Movie Maker to direct capture our band's practice sessions via firewire from a Sony DV camcorder. That way I didn't have to worry about whether the tape ran out and didn't have to spend hours the next day capturing from the camcorder. The first couple of times it worked great. I ended up with 2-3 hours of captured video and audio in a 1-2GB file. Then it was easy to split up the file, take out the chatter between songs and have some high quality WMVs to post on MySpace so we could review and critique. But the last two sessions (Jan 22 and 31), the capture stopped due to lack of space. Previously the 8-9GB of free space was more than enough to capture the whole practice session, with lots of room to spare. The last session I only got about 1.5 hours (final file was less than 700MB), but the TMP files used the whole 9GB of available space. Anyone else run into this and, more importantly, find a solution? I could continue to free up space on my laptop but it seems that something else is going on. TIA for any help on this.     - saving to a thumb drive I am working on a project with one of my students and have used my thumb drive to upload pictures and music because the work we do does not save at school on his file. My quesiton is this, when I open the file why is it that the pictures I have imported show up as "X"'s when I open them at home?     - Transition Help I just tried using WMM today. I put a 15 sec. clip (.avi) in it just to test, and see what it would do. However, I could not get the transitions to work. I would always get the little black circle with a line through it every time I tried to drag a transition down. Do you need more that one clip, and lengths of longer than 15 sec. for it to work?     - Not Uploading to YOUTUBE I made a movie about 5 1/2 minutes in WMM, it blended music, downloaded clips and a photostory. I tried to Upload to YOUTUBE, but it said it failed because the format isnt supported.     - playing sound in finished movie with MovieMaker Having serious issues with this software! It all LOOKS good but is totally non-functional! A) Why does the MP3 file I have as the entire background music NOT play at all in the finished movie? Also it will only play in the draft version when I actually click the timeline...it appears to be playing when I click play in the sample screen, but still NO music.     - Problems - Tried the Fixes on PapaJohn and nothing. I have several problems with Windows Movie Maker. I have a Sony HDD camcorder and downloaded several clips. I want to edit one of them. I can import the file into moviemaker, but there are a few issues. 1. On the screen to the right, where it appears you should be able to play the clip, there is no video. While messing with the codec option, I was able to get audio to play at one point, but never video, and I haven't been able to get the audio back. 2. When I try to drag the clip down to the storyline at the bottom, the program just up and crashes, no error message really, just the typical "has encountered a problem with" pop up. Any help?
