    - Trying to save to CD I am trying to save a file from Windows Movie Maker onto a CD. When I do so, it just runs making the minutes remainging get higher and higher.     - importing film I have windows xp and a aiptek 3100 camera recomendid on windows site. When i try to download clips to movie maker it downloads to my pictures file succesfuly into 27 different modules name lets say bret 001 bret 002 ect...to 27 all these video clips are in my pictures i put my pointer over different modules and the first 18 are jpeg file types but 19 thru 27 are avi formator video format now icant view the 1thru18 clips as video they will only show as stills.but 18 thru 27 i can preview and make a short movie out of now iam finished with the movie and the computer wont let me save the pictures to disk or anything else. The warning keeps coming up saying that some of the files are missing and i must find them first to save them.Alsocomputer wont recognise my aiptek camera even though a picture of it is in cameras and scanners and on my desktop and drivers are installed corectly. someone please help out there.     - The best solution for our problems... I've got a suggestion... why doesn't someone post date their computer 6 months or so, and post a message to this gorup called 'MM2 hangs when I try to use a transition', and in it, we put the remedy (or at least the link to PJ's wonderful site!).     - WMM2 quits everytime I select a transition or effect Every time I bring up the list of transitions or effects as soon as I select one of the icons and release the mouse button WMM2 quits. This happens if I just click on the effect or if I drag it to a clip and release the mouse button. It happens if the the storyboard is clear or has clips on it so I guess it's nothing to do with the video clips themselves but the effects. Any ideas? Tag: conflict with Realplayer Tag: 2613

    - Trouble loading movie maker 2 I recently got hit with a nasty system wide virus (win32.pinfi) that attacked most of my .exe files including Movie Maker 2 executable. I have managed to wipe the virus off the puter but am having heaps of issues after same. One issue was with my older installation of Movie Maker 2 on XP Professional where I got intermittent errors with streaming video and the gui would crash when trying to use any transitions between files. I tried to hack the registry to remove Movie Maker 2 only to later find it is rather a unique installation (read: dozens of registry entries). I tried downloading the Movie Maker 2 .exe again only to have Movie Maker 1 launch each and every time. Any hints/ideas on how to blow the Movie Maker 1 away and update with Movie Maker 2 again?     - 'Clip' trimming? Followed the instructions letter-by-letter in the MM2 Help file, but I just don't get it. I just want to remove commercials from some TV programs I've taped and captured with MM2. Grabbing the handles and dragging, right to left, or left to right, is not defined, so assume it does not matter? The section BETWEEN the two 'trim handles' turns a purplish color when dragging. Again, not defined. Is it the purple portion between the handles that gets deleted? Invariably, I end up deleting all or portions of a clip that I don't want deleted. Sometimes, the deletion carries over to parts of previous or succeding clips. Anyone point me to a more detailed online explanation of just how to correctly use these 'trim handles'? The MightyCoach site requires QuickTime video which I cannot install at my LAN based site. Appreciate some direction on correct methods of trimming. Thanks! Tag: conflict with Realplayer Tag: 2611

    - Losing sound with transitions I'm using a sony TRV-33 miniDV connected with a Firewire card to my computer. No problems with capturing my video ( in DV-AVI) but when I put my movie together I get either a popping sound with some transitions or the music is temporarily lost during the start of a transition.     - Audio Problem I have created a slide show using movie maker that includes mostly still photos, and a little bit of video. Following all the directions I found in "Help" I imported and inserted a mp3 file as music over the still photos. When I preview the movie from the beginning, I don't hear my music, but if I stop the movie, and start it again halfway through, I hear the music then. Any ideas why?     - av -> dv Converter My DV camera has an AV to DV converter. I would like to edit some VHS home movies on WMM2. I can see the VHS signal in the preview window; however when I try to capture the video, WMM automaticaly starts playing the DV tape, which overrides the VHS signal passing through the DV cammera. My video camera (canon zr50) suggested running the AV -> DV converter with no tape installed. I tried this, but WMM2 gives a "no tape present" error. The only solution I have found is a two step process: record to DV tape, then capture in WMM2. This takes twice as long. Has anyone done this?     - 'WMV file playing audio only Have several videos created with MM2 and saved as 'WMV files, but in Wdws Media Player, the file is played as an 'audio' file. Sound is fine, but no video.     - playing after recording on cd I was hoping I would be able to play a movie recorded from a CDR using Windows Movie Maker on my laptop DVD player or any DVD; but it doesn't work. It will only play on Windows Media Player.???? I can play recordable CD's from Ulead's PictureShow 2.0 (VCD or SCVD format)to a DVD but I can't seam to record digital camcorder movies to Ulead's program, which is another problem I will talk with them about.     - Sound distortion with WMP9/MovieMaker2 playing AVIs [CMI8738 onboard sound and DX sound hardware acceleration] hi, i was looking around on google and found that many others seem to have the same problem. The problem actually comes in two parts: *** I have AVI videos which contain an 8bit PCM sound stream (as recorded by my camera). When i play these videos in WMP9 i get a 'swooshing' sound which resembles a washing machine. First i thought it has to do with the camera, but yesterday i found out i can get rid of the distortion by switching back sound hardware acceleration two notches. (Basic Acceleration). Any one a idea why i have to switch back h/w accerleration and what causes the 'washing machine sound' ? Codecs ? WMP9 ?? *** MovieMaker2: When i play my videos as clips in MM2 the sound is fine. But when i put the clips in the time line and play the clips it sounds very distorted, like MM2 compresses the sound wrong.... high pitch and distortion. I was reading around and i read that some people say certain codecs may confuse each other...but this is easier said than done. I dont think that blindly renaming codecs is a good solution. And, yes, i have both WinDVD5 and PowerDVD5 installed. The problem is kind of serious because it makes the sound of all my videos sound horrible, and as it seems it happens *only* ??? in MovieMaker2. My config: Win XP SP1, AMD1900+, Radeon8500, DX9a, Cmedia 8738 onboard sound, latest drivers and bioses etc Tag: conflict with Realplayer Tag: 2506

I'm trying to convert a clip to .avi, and there's an
error. I'm 99% sure it is because I made RealPlayer the
default media player. How do I undo that, or override and
make Windows Media Player the default?? Thanks

Media Player -> Tools -> Options -> File Types -> Select All -> OK
