Me and my friend made a video and I was trying to edit it on Windows Movie
Maker as i always do but i hit a huge snag. It's the wrong file type and I
don't know how to change it. I seriously need help. Please!

What filetype is it?

There are many convertors out there.

Do a net search for video file converters

It's AVI file type and I need to to go into Windows Movie Maker. Is it
possible to convert it to the correct file type?

I would use something like avicodec first to determine which one of the 800+
video avi file types you have, then convert it to wmv using one of hundreds
of free converters on the web, google divx to wmv converter where divx is
your avi file type, or see some on this page
