Can I make a movie with only still photos?
I am trying to put together a slideshow of pictures for my wedding and
thought I should be able to use this software, it is the first time I have
used it so I am very unfamilar with it. Can I make a movie slideshow with
only still photos, or will it not let me do this? And if I can, how do I go
about doing it all. I know you can import photos, I have done that, but I
can't seem to do anything with them. If anyone could help I would appreciate
it VERY much. Tag: DVD burning Tag: 51099

I am making a movie and in the Introduction clip I want to tell a short

Whenever I save, it looks bad.
I made a video for a n English project and it looks really great. As soon as
I saved it then watched it again it looks REALLY terrible. The quality is
awful. Now, I can't even try saving it again because all the video files I
used have big X's through them.
What happened? Can I fix it? Tag: DVD burning Tag: 51081
First Time, Whatcha Think?
I've been wanting to use MM2 for more than editing out commercials,
but I don't have any videos to edit and create with. So I decided to
come up with something goofy for my nephew and give me some video to
edit. Here's the link, it's only about 90 seconds:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-207172509616826157
Keep in mind that I used a Samsung camera that is for taking stills,
but also does video.
And in the LCD display on the cam, he didn't look that far away in
the last couple shots.
Thanks in advance for any advice, tips or comments y'all might give.

Does Windows Media Player play DVDs or .avi??
I was wondering what brand media Player can my
family use to see on their PC, movies I will send to
them ?? I assume they will use a DVD player for
the TV.
I am using Windows Movie Maker to collect the clips
then using Nero to convert to DVD keeping the .avi format.
I am unable to view my own DVD on Windows Movie Maker.
To view them I can only use Nero or ATI file Player, the latter
with grinding gear background noises. Is this how it is??
Thank you. Tag: DVD burning Tag: 51072

Since auto update installed CD Max, files won't save ... :>(
MM 2.0.3312.0
Windows XP Pro 2002, SP2
Pentium 4 / 3-GHz
512 MB RAM
40-GB available HDD
I've used MM for some time, on files up to 100 MB, without problems, until
Windows auto update installed the CD Max patch. Since then, any file over 5
MB
goes into an infinite wait when saving to computer. The panel displays a
hard drive file definition to save into, but a top line message says, e.g.,
... preparing to save file to CD ROM - 9743286 estimated mins to save.
I uninstalled the CD MAX application in Control Panel / Add-Remove ...,
which completed normally per messages. After a reboot, the CD-Max logo still
appeared in the Save Movie panel, and the preceding CD-RoM save message still
appears in MM.
Any assistance appreciated. I'm in the process of converting family movies
for our children, and want to finish before the family reunion in August. If
MM can't be fixed in a timely manner, what other commercial software package
would do the trick, to enable me to finish. I'm AV-challenged, so simple
apps are good ... :>)

Capturing Camera tapes
I am capturing tapes from my Sony Digital 8 camcorder on to my PC, but
notice that I have two choices. Top capture them as .avi or wmv files.
I intend to edit this footage and save as
avi and burn on to DVD's with Nero.
Of course the .avi files take up a lot of
hard drive space, and I was wondering
if just capturing wmv files for the editing would afford the same quality.

Problem Saving AVI
I have read and followed almost all of the recommendations at Papa
John's wonderful site. However, I am having some problems saving a movie
as an AVI.
Since I can save a 45 minute video downloaded from my DV camera, the
problem is not memory or unregistered DLLs. The movie I'm trying to save
is 14 minutes.
All of the source files are present and accounted for. They were all
moved into a single folder and then copied to several computers for
testing. All computers exhibit the same problem.
If I delete everything but a single AVI file and a title, the movie will
not save. If I delete the AVI source file, the title will save as an AVI
movie.
The present movie, as edited, saves has a High Quality NTSC with no
problem. The movie plays perfectly in WMM. The only problem is that it
will not save as an AVI.
Is it possible that there is something unusual about the encoding of the
(uncompressed) AVI file? I'm presently using AVS File Converter to
convert from AVI to AVI, thinking that something is not up to spec.
Before I waste any MORE hours chasing the problem, I thought I would ask
here.
Assuming that I do not get this problem solved, what is the next best
format to AVI? NTSC High Quality WMV? The ultimate destination is a DVD.
The movie is my daughter's school project, so there is a hard deadline.
Thanks! Tag: DVD burning Tag: 50981

Copying DVD to PC, many files, what's what?
The local school did a DVD for my kid's school year. I bought it, and when
I got it home... instead of tossing it into a box, I've been moving CD files
(and now DVD's) like this onto my PC, and then organizing them digitally.
But unlike a single file on a CD, a DVD has lots of files. Questions are...
1) Does every DVD have lots of files and several folders? (This one had two
sub-folders). The multi-file thing almost mandates creating a whole folder
for 'one' DVD. Is there an easier way to do this, like create ONE file
called "School2006.???" and have it launch the DVD (even if it's in some
folder somewhere), so 10 years from now I don't have to wade thru files and
know just what to click.
2) Since I'm not using a DVD to insert and autostart... and am instead
starting this presentation from PC file(s)... how do I know "which" file to
click on to start it. Is there some de facto standard to look for? (like
when installing software, the de facto standard a lot of times is to double
click "setup.exe").
3) If I get rid of the original DVD, how would I copy this presentation from
PC back down to a DVD (to duplicate it for grandparents)? Do I just copy
the 2 subfolders and all their files? Will it auto-start like the original.
Or do I have to add some type of file to make it autostart?
Thanks,
George Tag: DVD burning Tag: 50967
